Like a problem with Mavs (organizational or anything) as to why they are missing out on getting these players or is just a series of swing and misses on Mav's part that the players are choosing to go elsewhere?

There's no logic anymore - it's just a solid stream of kicks to the crotch.

All signs point to Cuban making a deal with the devil last year. And quite frankly, I still say don't care won championship. **** it all

After a little more thought on the matter, only thing I can think of is that he decided to take the bitter pill of a bad year and try to load up next off season.

It's karma for dissing those who brought a championship to this city. Somewhere TChan, JJ, DStevenson, etc. are laughing.

LOL he didn't diss them. He couldn't afford them all. I listened to the radio the other day about this discussion. If they signed Chandler to the same deal he received in NY, they most likely wouldn't have fielded a full team last year. I wish Chandler was here; I think we all do, but I think the complications that is the NBA method of doing business/keeping the books is doing this team in more than anything.

Edit: I know this sounds like one extreme of this discussion. I'm fully aware he chose not to sign anyone in hopes of acquiring superstars this year and that failed.

It sucks to see so far, but they have won a championship, and it's time to move on and start again with a new core group of players. Dirk will remain, but everyone else is expendable.

Hopefully, we can draft well and make the right moves and be back.

After 2006 I never expected the Mavs to win a NBA Championship then a miracle happened last year. We may suck for the next decade but in the end it was all worth it.

Cuban has been paying out the ass for a long time. As a fan who doesn't think the sky is falling and okay with the idea of taking our shot and missing this offseason, I think Cubes has earned the ability to not pay out the ass for a year or two. He's been paying that luxury tax for a long time.

And after analyzing the whole Lakers situation in regards to how that luxury tax compounds over time (5 to 1? talk about kicks to the crotch), I'm okay with taking it slow before throwing money at a bunch of sh-t.

I'm not claiming the sky is falling. It just seems very uncharacteristic of Cuban to not be throwing money around. The oddity of it is what made me a little worried

Wasn't trying to implicate you specifically. Just seems to be the general feel from all I've read, seen, heard.

The way Cuban had the dominoes constructed, he was ready to shell out some serious coin to put together another run-worthy team between a near-max deal for Williams, the trade exceptions, and a Haywood amnesty. The first domino just never fell.

There are still some moves out there that would be encouraging to me, with the understanding the Mavs aren't doing anything significant this year.

This is bull****, wherever you heard it from. The only problems with Chandler were the long term implications with the new CBA penalties 3-4 ears down the road. They could have kept Chandler and still made a run at any of the max free agents.

Right now the decision to let Chandler walk is the worst thing to hit the Mavs since Roy Tarpleys cocaine habit - hows that for sky is falling paranoia?

IF: I don't know Jack about how the CBA is for the NBA and all that. I heard those stories on both the Ticket and ESPN 103.3 this week. Not sure when they were discussed. I think the Ticket was Monday evening rush when they were "venting" about the team. ESPN was in the morning rush.

I tip my cap to someone that knows more. This is just what I thought I heard on the radio.

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/mavericks/post/_/id/4690601/free-agents-still-looking-for-homes

ESPN information on who is still on the team, who we could potentially sign, etc.

Technically, only 7 are under contract so far.

There's only a handful of Dallas media that understands the CBA issues, and all of them have financial ties to the Mavs so they can't be trusted to be objective.

diet,
ben and skin are probably the biggest homers you'll ever see. they were arguing loudly with mosley this morning on letting chandler go and how the championship was a fluke.

dampier, tarpley, bradley, cherokee parks, loren meyer, chris anstey, erica dampier.

thats been the history of centers in the mavs. you have a center, who is a difference maker, in his prime, who is a defensive presence, and you let him go so you have cap space to sign someone else??

I'm honestly convinced that besides the people who wrote out the CBA, no one truly understands it. one of most confusing things I've ever tried to wrap my head around

I asked Jason Kidd if he wouldn't be surprised if Dirk Nowitzki asked the #Mavs to trade him. He said I would have to ask Dirk that.

I wonder if Kidd, Terry, Dirk, et al. were frustrated that Cuban didn't give them a chance to defend the title.

"Hey thanks for the title guys, but I don't think we can get another one unless we have Deron and Dwight"

It isn't that complicated. Wait until you get in the real world and have to start dealing with the tax code.
