How long do you want to ignore this user?
Would be a great trade for everyone involved. Bynum has already said he wouldn't mind playing in Texas long term. He's a scumbag but a great player.

Orlando would stockpile picks like they want - the picks from Houston would probably be better than the picks from BKN - and they send Dwight out of the EC. Lakers get D12, who they've wanted. Rockets finally get an impact player after stockpiling assets for what seems like forever.

Trade makes 10x more sense than anything with BKN.

Just sucks that it would send another great player to the WC and make it even more of a gauntlet.

AlexKennedyNBA: The Magic, Lakers and Rockets are discussing a three-team deal that sends Dwight Howard to LA and Andrew Bynum to HOU

I would guess that means the Magic are getting a lot of picks in return? Surprised more details havent leaked

Yankees- it would be nice if they could rescind that offer but if not I think Asik would be a good backup behind Bynum

From Hoopshype: magic still trying to accommodate howard's request and trade him to brooklyn. Rockets have offered to trade straight up with orlando or be involved in 3 teamer with the lakers and send multiple picks and cap friendly and/or expiring contracts to orlando.

Dan - Orlando is interested in Bynum, but they don't think he would sign after this season. If he would agree to an extension a deal would have been done with the Lakers already.

I started a thread a week or two ago saying I expected a three-team deal like this and I still expect it. This makes too much sense because a) the Lakers will get Howard to sign long-term, b) Houston likely gets Bynum to sign long-term and c) the Magic get a crap load of picks, expiring contracts and two teams to take on their crappy contracts. This makes so much sense for all three teams. Screw trying to get Howard to the Nets because he wants to go there.

All that garbage Bynum did against the Rockets, it would be fitting if he goes there.

Are you crazy, Bynum on the last year of his contract for Toronto's #1 pick next year?

No way that I would do that to make a bad team average. And then Bynum leaves after the 1 season and you got nothing again.

This is just a path for the Rockets to stay at the end of the lottery and stay irrelevant.

Gap,
Bynum has been quoted as to saying he would be happy to play and stay in Texas.

I hope Dwight indeed gets shipped to the West coast as it will make the East that much easier for the Heat. If Bynum agrees to an extension with Houston it's a good deal for them too as they have a stud center to build a team around. The rockets roster right now blows.

Even if he stays, there won't be anyone to get him the ball. Rockets don't have any decent players right now, let alone if they give up all their good draft picks. I say tank the season.

Bynum is one of a few legit centers in the league. If you can get him to sign long term you do it, even with his character risks

I would rather have Bynum on the roster than Dwight Howard. That's how much I hate D12.

You must not have followed Houston long or you would know that this isn't an option for Les Alexander

Bynum said he would want to stay here so I dont think we would have any trouble re-signing him especially if Morey can move a few other pieces to get another decent superstar here.

Plus that Toronto pick is top 4 protected next year and theres no guarantee that pick will be worth having over Bynum. I think you gotta roll the dice here and take the 24 yr. old proven product.

As others have said, Bynum likely signs here long-term. Plus, you wouldn't have to give up as many young players. Likely, you give up K-Mart's expiring contract, your first round pick from Toronto and maybe two of the young guys (picked from Jones, White, Lamb and Parsons). I excluded D-Mo as he wouldn't be eligible to be included.

And then who would we have left to field a competitive team? We can't win with just Bynum.

yes we can..... he's an incredible ball handler, a 75% career 3-point shooter, he has never missed a FT, and averages 73 blocks per game

aggiematt-

You would be left with Motiejunas and whichever two the Magic didn't take between the list of White, Jones, Parsons and Lamb. Plus, you still have Scola who could be used to try and trade for a future first rounder similar to what they did with Lowery. I think if I was Houston I would just offer Jones and Parsons to the Magic to see if they would take that so you could hold on to Lamb.

IF the Rockets could land Bynum or Howard, they would have plenty of options to put a talented enough team around them to get back in the playoffs. Shoot, the Rockets were 3rd-6th seed material last year before Lowry got hurt and then butt hurt. The team would be Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin stretching the floor, Parsons cutting to the basket and playing tough D, a littany of options at PF to play in the high post (Scola), and Howard/Bynum. Just wish we could have held onto Lowry or Dragic somehow.

When given the choice between a proven player like Bynum and tanking, the proven player should always win. Tanking doesn't guarantee you get a star, especially not in the next draft.

Also, if we do get Howard or Bynum and he decides to leave, I bet it'd be a sign-and-trade. So we wouldn't be totally screwed in that scenario either. Another reason why we should take the proven player.

Hotard-

If the Rockets got either Bynum or Howard, then Martin wouldn't be on the team. Part of what Orlando likes about Houston is the expiring contract that is K-Mart. Obviously, our best trading piece is the lottery guaranteed pick from Toronto, but K-Mart is an important part also.

Very true re: Martin, but if this trade went down, either Turkoglu or Richardson or possibly both if Scola is amnestied would surely be coming Houston's way. Not great players by any stretch, but enough (along with Bynum and what's still on the roster) to get the Rockets into the playoffs again which is a start.

Orlando wants Martins contract and draft picks. Rockets two deep are likely to be|

C...Bynum, Asik
PF..Scola, White, Patterson
SF..Parsons, Morris
SG...Lamb, Duhon
PG..Richardson, Brooks

Scola is gone if we have to take Turkalo.

Not sure why we don't insist on getting the Flakers point guard (not Nash) since we are helping them get DH.

I see White being more of a 3 at the NBA level but that's just my opinion. Maybe not for every team, but he definitely has more ballhandling/passing/shooting ability than Morris does at this stage. I think anybody hoping Morris develops into a 3 is being unrealistic.

White as more of a 3 than Morris? White is 260-270, not as mobile, and not as good of a shooter. He is a good ball handler and passer however. Morris had a higher FG%, 3pt %, and FT % in college than White. White didn't even shoot 50% from the FT line. I don't know if Morris can be a 3, but he definitely has a better shot at it than White.
