He has said so many times. He doesn't want stars to force their way to super teams, because parity is better for the league than 3 super teams and a bunch of teams with no chance.

Not quite working:

2008 Olympic team had players from:
Utah
Dallas
Cleveland
Milwaukee
Miami
Orlando
Toronto
New Orleans
Detroit
Denver

Now, those players from the Redeem Team play for:
Los Angeles
New York
Miami
Chicago
Detroit

So Tayshaun Prince is the only one that doesn't play in a major market now.

Stern can publicly say what he wants, but there is no doubt he wants stars in big cities. I'm curious to see who he picks to win the finals next year.

Years ago, Stern said his dream finals was Lakers vs Lakers.

No doubt he is looking forward to Lakers vs Miami

4 players off OKC playing in this final game now (Durant, Westbrook, Hardin, Ibaka).
How many will be in OKC or other small market 4 yrs from now?

If I even watch the NBA after the Spurs run is over, my allegiance would change to OKC, assuming they still have Durant.

Guys have their choice on where they want to play.

Not sure it is Stern's job to force players to stay at one club their whole life.

The NBA is probably the league that provides the original team the best opportunity to get the most back for losing a big free agent.

Durant isn't going anywhere. He re-upped quietly the year LeBron put on the circus. That OKC team is built to dominate for a decade.

at this point I agree.

LeBron did the same thing at that respective time in his contract with Cleveland.

right now yes, but time will tell on whether they can keep the key pieces in OKC when the money comes calling on guys like Harden, Ibaka, and others. They definitely have a head-start on Cleveland in that they seem to be surrounded with a MUCH more superior talent base than LeBron ever was in Cleveland when he made the same decision to extend his contract.

LeBron extended his contract for only 3 years with a option for the 4th. Durant extended for 5 years. Huge difference. Interestingly enough, Bosh did the same extension as LeBron after his 3rd year with Toronto. So, yeah.
