I read those tweets when he originally tweeted them and watched the segment and agreed completely.

I'm not the biggest fan of Simmons. I agree with him sometimes, and other times he's up there with the biggest tools on ESPN.

This, however, was dead on. I haven't watched anything with Skip Bayless in over 2 years, and this was the first segment with him I've seen in that long. Such trash on all levels.

But, the funny part of this is ESPN suspending him from tweeting only. What a *****y move. They basically know they can't defend the segment either, so they don't want him to take a leave of absence for exposing pure crap on their network...however, he still trashed production from the network, so let's take away his tweeting. Ridiculous.

I put it on this board because he's mostly known by basketball people, even though the skip segment was with a football player.

Let's see. I don't watch First Take, don't follow Simmons on Twitter, and don't read him on Grantland.

Whoa! This is huge!

I hate Skip, but Sherman is a total POS as well. Simmons was right. Everybody lost.

Skip annoys me, too, but he didn't deserve all that. Sherman definitely showed his ass and got way too personal...what I found a little humorous was Stephen A. Smith just watching it all.

I do agree with Simmons...that just devolved into a crap-flinging session.

I enjoy Grantland, but I don't worship at the altar of Simmons like some on here, but BS is correct.

I'll say this about SAS and Bayless. They get people to talk about the crap that is on that show. Since they featured Bayless and the debate format more, their ratings have jumped...generally from people who complain about both SAS and Bayless.
I think the show appeals to the message board crowd that want verification of their opinion.

I generally don't watch anything on ESPN except the live sporting events, but I admit, when that show is on and I'm stuck in a hotel or it is on in the fitness facility, it is hard to stop watching, probably like the old Morton Downey Jr show.

That was awesome. The intelligence and maturity between those two couldn't have been greater.

I'm not a big Simmons fan, but I'm glad he called out ESPN's worthless show.

I admit I'm not a diehard NFL fan, but I had no idea who this Sherman guy was until this segment. So I absolutely agree with Skip when he says he's not in the same class as Revis. But that show sucks and is a great example of why I don't watch it

^ no, that just means you don't follow the NFL very much if you don't know who Sherman is

1. Simmons asked for this when he shifted his focus to television work from Grantland. The 30 for 30's are great, but his writing (no matter if you liked it or not) was his bread and butter. Watching him on TV with Magic, Wilbon and Jalen is unbearable.

2. First Take, its producers, Skip and Stephen A. know exactly what they're doing. The show is basically who can troll harder. They know this. I wouldn't be surprised if it the most watched show amongst professional athletes. It's nothing but forced controversy with the occasional rapper cameo. It offers a lot of players a forum that they would feel comfortable with when coming on TV. It's also unwatchable. Skip and Stephen A. should not be surprised that they attract that much hate.

3. Sherman was out of line. He went on that show to do one thing and one thing only. It was very obvious.

4. Revis is barely walking. The peak duration for an elite cover corner (at least when it comes to coverage) is probably three years. Even worse than running backs.

5. ESPN is ****ing retarded.

So why doesn't skip get suspended for being a worthless POS on tv every morning? Does ESPN really want these idiots representing them? Its just stupid.

Reputation no longer matters, money and ratings are the only motivators...and, in a sad statement on US TV content, "reality tv" that's controversial beats everything in ratings.
