The rockets BADLY need another center who can rebound and affect shots at the rim. Withey IS that guy. The guy averages almost 4 blocks per game and 14 points on 59% shooting from the floor. The guy is a game changer for a second unit (I dont think he'll ever become a consistent starter, which is ok) and can be our birdman, javale mcgee, brandan wright, etc. He'll be available at 16-20 (which i predict the rockets will draft) so he'd be a great pick in my opinion

Would love that pick, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if he gets picked in the lottery. Dude's defense is pretty solid

Rockets don't have a first round pick if they make the playoffs, correct?

Correct Ryan!

They owe a lottery protected 1st rounder to Atlanta. Carry over from the Terrance Williams trade of several years ago. They also owe their 2nd rounder this year to Atlanta (dont remember why?)

I think the only pick they will have is the Phoenix 2nd rounder that they obtained this season. Fortunately this looks to likely be an early 2nd rounder

Gorgui Dieng would be a good option, but I doubt that he will be a second rounder this year.

This draft (and coincidentally NCAA tournament) are about as lousy and talent lacking as the year 2000. Its historically bad. So, it's smart of Morey (yet again) to have basically no picks in the draft.

As for Withey and Dieng, I'd be ok to sign either of them as undrafted free agents. But I expect both to be non contributing D leaguers their entire career. Why would you expect either of them to be better than Cole Aldrich who was picked 11th and had similar college numbers. He can't even crack a rotation. Both are 23 year old seniors "dominating" college basketball because the top of their class is playing their 5th or 4th season in the NBA.

I'd rather gamble in the late first round or 2nd round on some younger guy with real upside.
