Depends on what you mean by "not that good". Splitter knows where to be on defense, has good size and mobility, and is a great pick and roll player with soft hands and nice touch finishing on the move. For some teams he would never play. For the Spurs he's a perfect center on offense and, if he can improve his rebounding, exactly what they need on defense to compliment Timmy.
They still need to find a guy who can body up strong posts when Duncan leaves, and Splitter may never be that guy.
