I was really jacked when he finally came over to play for the Spurs. This is his 3rd season with SA?

Iirc the third season. First almost didn't count since Pop hates first year players.

I like him. He won't be our next Robinson or Duncan but he can be good.

If he can even do a decent Rasho impersonation I'll take it.

He's improving steadily. Won't ever be Duncan or Robinson, but will be a good player for the Spurs.

Solid player. Infuriates me with his lack of aggression sometimes, but that'll never be his game.

Someone needs to remind him that he's seven feet tall.

It's Manu. Everyone on the team wants to be like him and Blair and Splitter model their game on his type of moves. Even Bonner does it sometimes.

I want Splitter to dunk it so bad when he's at the rim but he just won't. I think Pop makes you run in practice if you dunk.

He's nothing more than a decent role player

He's a player that will be in the league for 10+ years but will never be an all-star. Someone will probably throw him more money than he is worth this summer.

and decent role players have won four O'Briens for the spurs. I'd be thrilled if he stepped in to that position this year.

wonder with baynes now, if tiago will be the next spur to parlay success in the spurs system to a paycheck elsewhere. the front office always seems to let those guys without much counter

Adam Morrison has 2 rings. Who cares how many rings you win if you aren't that good. Splitter isn't that good

eh, think you misunderstood. I don't think he is a great player, just pointing out that each spurs championship has had a couple of role players step up. just hoping against hope he's one this year

Better than Rasho and Oberto

Those of you hating on Splitter are blind or don't understand bball.

He's 6'11'' and a big body with decent mobility. He's become a very solid team defender. His size is what separates him from Rasho, Nazr, Fab and McDyse. Guys like this don't grow on trees.

Pop says he's the best "roller" he's had. And that is saying something. He'll make a career of setting screens, rolling to the basket and playing solid defense. I'd pay him as much as OKC is paying Nick Collison to play the same roll. Albeit, Nick a little smaller but a little more mobile.

The negatives? He'll never be a post up scorer IMO. I also don't see him turning Serge Ibaka and developing a consistant 18-footer.

I'm scared that some team will throw too much at him but I believe the Spurs will make him a legit offer. Let's hope he stays.

Depends on what you mean by "not that good". Splitter knows where to be on defense, has good size and mobility, and is a great pick and roll player with soft hands and nice touch finishing on the move. For some teams he would never play. For the Spurs he's a perfect center on offense and, if he can improve his rebounding, exactly what they need on defense to compliment Timmy.

They still need to find a guy who can body up strong posts when Duncan leaves, and Splitter may never be that guy.
