I admit that I also like Lebron but the Pacers would be easier to beat for the fifth. If the Spurs were out of the playoffs then I'd root for him.

I can't cheer for the Heat, but honestly, I would rather see the Spurs play and beat the Heat than then play the Pacers. It would just make for a more interesting championship series.

Obviously, I'd rather see the Grizzlies play, but just being realistic.

But I can't cheer for the Heat.

I don't mind Lebron but the Pacers would be an easier road so no.

the anti Lebron peeps have made me want to see him shut them up. I would rather the Spurs win. But a Heat win would be sweet too, The Lebron hate is ridiculous

LeBron won last year.

Hate the heat. So does any self-respecting spurs fan.

I have no problem with Lebron, but I hate the heat. I'm not a fan of the "super team" trend.

First off, the Spurs need to beat a team from Tennessee before worrying about what Miami is doing.

That said though, there is only one reason I would like for Miami to play SA in the Finals and that is because we should all know who will be hanging out courtside and in the locker room.

Is it a trend? Miami, LA, NY, and Brooklyn have tried it, but 3 of those teams suck.

The new CBA tries to put an end to the superfriends. I don't think you can really buy a championship like the Celtics did and the Heat from last year.

TBH, I don't expect the 3 of them in Miami to last much longer. Either Bosh gets traded for cap space or Lebron leaves to win another championship in another city.

Bosh is going to be the odd man out. Bron and Wade are thick. And no way Miami would let him go.

Miami was 13mm over the lux tax level this year. Paid $1 for $1 over.

Next year, they are a repeat offender. If James Jones and Ray Allen don't opt out, they are $15mm over in guaranteed salaries. That doesn't include Birdman and they would need one more roster player.

That $15mm over the luxury tax will cost them $43.75mm in penalties. For every dollar over $15mm over the tax, they have to pay $4.25 in penalties.

Bosh will make $19mm next year, so that would be an obvious trading chip. Bosh can opt out in 2014 or 2015.

Then again, maybe Miami think it is ok and they can pay $130mm in salary+taxes next year without blinking. That would be about double what the Pacers are paying.

If Miami is winning they won't care about the luxury tax. The cost of losing is far more.

Not caring about $10mm in taxes and not caring about $45mm in taxes are two very different things.

they'll care, but it won't be a barrier to them trying to win now. Mickey Arisson has said he's committed to winning now.

That's true, but what about the extra revenue the Heat get for the playoff runs they're in? Per the website below, the average ticket price of a heat playoff game is $207.25; the heat's average attendence this season (not playoffs, just overall) was 19,982. That's an extra $4,141,269.50 per game played in the playoffs, not counting concessions, drinks, merchandise, or mark ups for finals, etc...

So, thus far, the heat have played 4 homes games. 4 x $4,141,269.50 = $16,565,078.00...assuming the just make it to the finals, they'll have at least 3 more home games equaling an extra $12,423,808.50 for a total of $28,988,886.50, which more than covers this years luxury tax and is more than half of next years.

So, just using the Heat's situation, they money they make just on ticket sales alone in the playoffs, assuming they make a finals run, which they've done thus far for the past 3 years, would be from $24,847,617.00 (if they played 6 games, 2 each round) up to $49,695,234.00 (assuming they played every home game in each series and they have home court, whcih they do...and that's on the low side of tickets not including any other revenue and using their average attendence from the season and not the playoffs.

In short, they can afford it...

The Heat can win with the big 3 making $60mm. That model *can* work as long as they all play at an all-nba level.

Their problem for the lux tax is paying $10mm combined to Mike Miller and Joel Anthony.

They should now be able to consistently reload with cheap veterans. They will be paying Battier/Allen/Cole/Birdman a combined $8mm next year.

I don't care who wins the East...either team will be a worthy opponent IF the Spurs close it out against the Griz.

As a basketball fan, I really enjoyed last nights game. I don't particularly care for the Heat or Lebron, but they play hard and tenacious defense and I respect that...I wonder how they will do if the Spurs do make it, (well, being a Spurs I hope they don't do well) against a team like San Antonio who can score AND play defense. The way the Spurs have been playing defense seems to be lost on a lot of folks. They haven't been playing d like this in quite a while...

If the Spurs can't win it, the Heat are my second choice. Lebron has taken so much ridiculous criticism, and plays the game so well and so unselfishly, that I find myself cheering for him.
