Tony married to Eva didn't really hurt his popularity.

Think it has more to do with the fact that they play in a small market, tbh.

I dunno, but at least Duncan would have had a Olympic gold medal.

Probably. We would have been exposed to them earlier on.

Small Market team.

You also rarely ever see those two on commercials.

If they played in Houston or Dallas they would be much bigger names.

which is sad because their heb commercials are entertaining.

I also think it has to do with their personalities and not wanting the added attention.

Durant is in a smaller market than SA and it hasn't hurt his marketability.

I think this also has to do with a) the fleecing of Seattle for a team and b) NBA marketing. If the league helps foster players on small market teams by talking about them on NBA TV and having them on TV a lot then they'll be more popular.

For example, how many TNT Thursday games did the Spurs play during the year compared to other teams? I think it was 2 because Pop was fined for messing with the NBA for the first vs Miami.

If the NBA helped pimp out guys from other teams that aren't in LA, wherever Lebron is, and the NE then we'd hear more about these guys.

Durant's fame was also helped by his 1 year explosion in college.

You guys are crazy of you think Durant would be on the same low marketing level as Parker or Duncan if he was on the Spurs instead of the (smaller) OKC market.

And if anything the move from Seattle hurt things for Durant because of the anger towards the OKC owner. Durant was in relative obscurity for his first 2 years.

3 straight scoring titles are why Durant and OKC are on the map.

TP as a bouncer for his HEB steaks is a good one too.

Tim's tuxedo t-shirt is a nice touch.

That's true, but they (SA, Hou, DAL) also all have relatively "Quiet" superstars.

Houston has a superstar?

Superstar is thrown around way too loosely. To me, the only two superstars in the league right now are LeBron and KD.

No they wouldn't. None of the Texas teams get much exposure.

Diet,

Yes they would. By sheer population numbers

Houston and Dallas are large market teams with metro areas that hover between 6 and 7 million people.

The San Antonio metro area only has around 1.8 million people making it one of the smallest metro areas to have a pro sports team.

You play for a large market team (that is good) and you will be on TV more often, and you will be seen by more people.
