I think it says a lot about manu that the passes have to get that ridiculous before we fans say something about how ridiculous they are. Ever since he became Batmanu I just can't be surprised with anything he does.

This is why I'd take him out for the last couple of minutes. That's a crazy chance to take at that point in the game.

Between a running guy's legs hitting Parker in full stride at the perfect spot and Parker ruins it by missing.

But still, who else ever would even attempt a pass like that let alone complete a pass like that?

More lucky than anything. I agree, that is a stupid risk to take, especially at that juncture in the game. It looks cool if he pulls it off, but it's ****ing stupid if it doesn't work

He may have just not anticipated the defender keeping with Parker on the cut. I find it hard to believe he would intentionally try that pass because its 90% luck not knowing where his legs will be when the ball arrives.

Actually it isn't that risky, because 75% of the time they'd call a kicked ball on that if it hit the other player's legs. Pretty smart move really.

Haha. He is by far my favorite player. That is an insane play. Too bad Parker didn't finish.

I predict we will get at least one vintage Manu game this series with him going for about 20 points and hitting some big shots. He has always been a high risk/high reward player. You have to take the good with the bad with him.

When I saw that live I turned to my comrades and asked "Did he pass that between his legs?" The response was "No, of course not! Don't be stupid." I didn't argue it at all but looks like I was right.

But, if that had hit someone's foot, that wouldn't have been a kick ball. At least the rule states that it's not. The defender has to purposely kick the ball for that to be called. If Ginobili passes it into someone's foot, that's a live ball. I still think it was a dumb decision. But, Ginobili seems to pull this type of stuff out fairly often, so I guess if anyone should try it, it's him

If it was anyone other than Ginobili, I would say it was unintentional dumb luck. But Ginobili has a history of going for the nutmeg. I bet he was an incredible soccer player.

No doubt Parker missed the shot... he was too busy trying to figure out "how did Manu just do that?". Lost his focus!

It seems amazing to me that more guys don't go between the legs considering that most of the guys on the court are over 6'5" and have long ass legs to pass through.

Might be more related to player movement than anything else though. Definitely a very soccer derived trait though. Dude is nuts.

I think Manu is great but I have a hard time believing that was intentional because the player is not even in that spot yet and his legs are not apart when he makes the pass. All the other nutmeg passes are between a non-moving players legs that is trying to stop him.

It is an amazing play, but in this case I think it was by accident.

It looks like he is waiting for the opportunity to throw it there. In soccer when you nutmeg a guy, it is rarely a guy who is just standing there like basketball. It is usually someone moving and you time the pass or dribble to when their legs are going to be open.

Manu grew up in the land of Maradona and no doubt grew up playing soccer. I 100% believe that this was intentional. He started it when the legs were closed so they would be open when the ball hit the spot.

You don't often see a guy slot a soccer pass through a running defender's leg, if EVER, when the guy is marking another player's run. Around, in front, curled behind him, over him, are the likely suspects.

That would be equivalent to JFF throwing a football through a flying tire right to the receivers' hand on a slant route. Possible? Yes, but nearly impossible and something you wouldn't exactly plan for.

A 1 on 1? Sure, that's much easier in soccer because your guy is usually face up with his legs open facing you or you bait him into squaring up wide with footwork on the ball.

I think Manu did it intentionally, but that it was super lucky. Manu has no concept of risk/reward, he just knows where he wants the ball to end up and fires it through whatever forest of arms and legs happens to be in the way.

Magic Johnson. Every game.

Of course, having characterized Manu as a random pass generator, he is incredibly good at timing and placement on these crazy passes. It wasn't all luck. He's also helped by the fact that his release is very fast and the defense never expects him to try these passes, so they don't react in time.
