not to derail the other thread, but what's the love for Doc? He's a good coach, but they're making him out to be the 2nd coming of Phil. With all the solid coaches out there that are available, if I were the Clips, I wouldn't "trade" for Doc, unless Chris Paul is saying he's gone if they don't do this.

The 'insiders' say most of the players in the league would love to play for Doc. That is why his name is always brought up as the next Olympic Team coach.

I suppose from the Clippers perspective bringing in a coach that has a good reputation with the players gives them the chance to keep Paul, and land somebody in free agency in the next 2-3 years.

I'd rather have another coach and trade for Dwight.

They're gonna do that too...they say that's the reason the Clippers won't include Bledsoe in the Deal for Doc and Garnett...so they can use him as the centerpiece in a sign and trade with the Lakers for Dwight Howard.

So, when it's all said and done, this is what the "ultimate" plan is:

The Clippers get Doc Rivers, Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Dwight Howard while resigning Chris Paul (which is the virtual center piece)

The Celtics get rid of Jason Terry's contract, Deandre Jordan and 2 first round draft picks

The Lakers get Bledsoe and Blake Griffin.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure I see anyone losing in this deal at this point, with the Clippers getting the short end, but in the short term, no losing at all. I see them mortgaging their future for the present, but they are resigning chris paul and getting Dwight Howard. While old, a lineup of CP3, Howard, Pierce, Garnett, and Billups is pretty salty...then you'll have the Lakers with Gasol, Griffin, Kobe, Bledsoe, and Nash...and teh Celtics with Jordan and Rondo and 3 first round picks in the next two years.

Not many coaches on the free market with multiple nba championships other than Phil. Plus if acquiring Doc meant getting chris paul to resign why wouldn't you?

The Dwight trade still seems far fetched to me. I don't think the Lakers take a Griffin/Bledsoe sign and trade foe Howard, given that they're completely committed to building around him. I think they absolutely plan to make Dwight leave $30mm on thetable and go to some team with cap space if he plans on leaving.

Agreed it seems like all parties get a pretty good deal, but I don't see any way in heck that the Lakers ship Howard to the Clippers.

I'd jump all over that Griffin/Bledsoe for Howard trade if I were the Lakers.

Great trade for both, imo

I'd do that deal first, so they have ALL the leverage with the Celts. Then offer up DeAndre and a #1. If they say no, then dangle DeAndre and the same #1 for a complimentary player to Paul/Howard.
