What are your thoughts about the reign of Stern?

I think on the whole it's been positive as the NBA still exists despite 4 lockouts while he was in office. Low marks for killing the Sonics.

I think he dropped the ball in promoting the small markets. I don't care about the garden, or Staples Center, but they are pimped out as the best ever even when their teams are ****. When teams that aren't in the big cities play well the NBA should be whoring them put to fans to drum up more support in their local areas.

Hated Stern.

What's different?

Pumping up the big market teams used to make a lot of sense, but it seems like now in the internet age with national broadcasts it shouldn't matter so much where the teams are. The league should be following the best teams, not pumping up the lackluster Knicks every year.

Not sure how much of it is the NBA doing that, and how much of that is TNT/ESPN.

At least with tnt, the nba can give direction since many of those guys are working nba tv as well.

Every league gives talking points to the sports stations, which is why they don't complain about refs all the time.

I don't think it is coincidental that Skip Bayless used to joke about not being able to mention the spurs a few years ago.

Arrogant as ****, but still the GOAT commissioner. He ran the NBA like I run my fantasy leagues. Like a gorilla pimp.

I tend to agree that he is GOAT commissioner. the NBA is the best its ever been. He took the league international and its been a huge success. He oversaw many expansion teams. He got rid of the gangsta rap culture for the most part. The league is incredibly well off since we he started in 84.

Best commissioner ever. He took the NBA from having tape delayed championship games to second most popular sports league in the US.

Seriously doubt Jordan is sweating the head to head regular seasons versus the rockets.

Not Hakeem's fault MJ couldn't lead his Bulls past the Magic in the 95 playoffs, the same team Hakeem's Rockets swept. So, since MJ never gave us an opportunity to fight it out in the playoffs, I'll go ahead and use the Head to Head record instead. But thanks for your input. It is treasured

I know we can all be biased at times, but that is the pinnacle of delusion right there.

In the context of the "team" of the 90s, I agree, but to dismiss the rockets of 93/94 and 94/95 because MJ wasn't around full time is ridiculous.
