Dude is awful. Literally one of the worst players in the league. I have a hard time figuring out how his run in NY ever happened. Takes horrible shots even when he is 1 for 10 and dribbles out the shot clock on the regular, ball movement killer. Absolute garbage.

One if the most overpaid that is for sure. It's a too bad DM couldn't move him for a couple nice players while we held on to AB.

I wouldn't go so far as "straight garbage," but he clearly is an awful fit with Harden and not starting caliber for a contender.

Bev is coming back in a couple of weeks. Hopefully Lin can do his best to not ruin everything we have accomplished while Pat is out

At this point Beverly may be the most important player on the team. Forget about defense. On offense we go through so many huge up and down swings with him ruining the offense it is ridiculous

I really hope you guys are using hyperbole. He was 6-8 with 18 points and 4 steals last night off the bench. I dont know why people love to pile on him so much. Every player on this team has extremely bad moments and stretches. Cant figure out why every fan of the Rockets has to either think he's the worst player in the nba or the best. Cant he just be a valuable 6th man who can spell harden while going against the other teams bench unit?

Poppa, lin and Beverley have exactly the same offensive efficiency when they are on the court with the other starters. Try again.

LOL @ anyone who thinks Pat and Lin are equal. This team plays so much better when Bev is on the floor. A big reason why we have struggled lately is because he hasn't been suiting up

Lin + Harden + Parsons + Jones + Howard, 310 minutes, 1.13 offensive efficiency, 1.10 defensive efficiency.
Beverley + Harden + Parsons + Jones + Howard, 557 minutes, 1.13 offensive efficiency, 1.07 defensive efficiency

Lin hasn't exactly destroyed the starting lineup by replacing Beverley. The offense efficiency is exactly the same. The defensive efficiency drops off, but just slightly. Nothing like going from a top 10 defense to a bottom 10 defense.

Stop exaggerating.

Not a huge difference, for comparison, Harden is +10.8 and Howard is +6.1

What does all that say? Jeremy Lin is not a disaster, he does represent a drop off from Patrick Beverley, but it is not disastrous. He is an asset to this team as a bench player, as most metrics have him being in one of the top 30 point guards in the league.

And a big reason we have struggled is that we are forcing people that shouldn't be in the rotation into playing serious minutes, rather than guys like Lin and Asik coming off the bench. Not only has Canaan been forced into big minutes, Troy Daniels was even playing crunch time minutes last game THE SAME DAY he played in an RGV playoff game, because our coaching staff has no confidence in Jordan Hamilton and Omri Casspi right now.

If he wasn't set to make $15 million next year it wouldn't bother me as much.

What makes it so bad is that when he and harden play together we literally have no perimeter defense. Or so it seems.

The $15MM is an artificial balloon payment based on the poison pill contract we signed him to, I dont see the merit in discussing it. He is paid $8mm per year. Sure, I'd rather be paying Dragic or Lowry that money, but things worked out the way they did and the pick we got from Toronto allowed us to eventually nab Harden so Im ok with it.

Thought you might take the chance to back up your claim that Lin was the worst player on the team with more than angry emoticons and platitudes.

I base my claims on our win/loss record. Without Howard, we were 6-5. Without Howard and Bev, we were 3-5. When Pat is out of the lineup our team is much worse. You can keep your meaningless efficiency rating stats or whatever. I'll look at the win/loss record and I'll look at how we are playing and I will make my own assessment, which is that Lin just isn't that great.

@ca_rockets: Jeremy Lin had his best shooting season of his career in all 3 shooting categories: 45% FG (tied career high), 36% 3FG, and 82% FT.

Posting based on perception is usually a bad idea. Facts don't back up OP claims. You can argue he's not worth his contract. That's debatable, but you can't say with any credibility that he's a bad player.

I agree with this. He's not worth his contract, but he is far from useless. He's can create his own shot, spread the floor with his range and driving ability, and he isn't afraid of anybody. He's not a starting PG, but he's very solid in the energy-guy-off-the-bench role.
