Random thought:
I'll agree this is a stretch comparison, but they both have the same "it factor" that makes them so much fun to watch. You sit on the edge of your seat wondering if the next play will be the most spectacular thing you've seen in their sport that year or a complete mess. That is why they are must see tv for me!

Both Manziel and Ginobili see their respective games in ways others can't, and that's fueled their success. To say otherwise is really just showing sour grapes tbh.

They are both unorthodox players who are extremely competitive (even among their highly competitive peers) and have unparalleled ability to see the field/floor, and who, while being good athletes, excel athletically more thru change of pace, direction and angles than thru pure speed. It's a good comparison.

If you want to compare style of play, maybe, but JF played his sport (college football, yet to be seen in the NFL) at a much higher level compared to his peers than Manu.

Well actually if you look at what Manu did at the amateur level (Italian & Spanish Leagues) he played at a much higher level then as well compared to his peers.

Both Manu and JFF are spectacularly exciting to watch when they're hot. They make plays out of broken plays; they make incredible passes; they make the rest of their offense more productive; they are unpredictable; they have an incredibly competitive spirit and a will to win.

There are many comparisons that can be made. I totally agree with the OP.

He has more in common with Allen Iverson. Undersized, played two years in a big-time program garnering a lot of individual success before leaving early, highly competitive, extremely unique skill set, questionable decision making on and off the field. Throw in the unhealthy love of rap music and the only thing that separates the two are cornrows.

Manu was the MVP of the Gold Medal winning Argentina basketball team at the Olympics. A team of inferior talent that upset the dream team.

Sounds a lot like Johnny at Bama in 2012.

He won MVPs and titles in Europe (like NCAA football?). Been an all-star in the NBA.
