Bummer for him because I know he loves playing with his national team, but if it means he spends 2 months resting it may turn out for the best in the long run.

Blessing in disguise for the Spurs. Expected I be back by late September . That's even before camp starts.

In totally unrelated news, Pop announces he will be eating Ramen Noodles for the next 2 weeks, and a San Antonio area doctor was seen at a local Porsche dealership.

So Mills was possibly going to leave for big money and he goes from raining threes in the NBA finals to needing a major surgery. Spurs will likely sign him for cheap.

Manu after coming off a resurgent year and being crucial to another finals victory, was going to play for his national team. Now the Spurs find a stress fracture that basically makes him rest in order to heal.

Both of these may be a blessing in disguise for the Spurs repeat hopes.

Now send those doctors over to Diaw's house and complete the hat trick before he gets a big Free agent offer.

Per twitter:

Quixem Ramirez @quixem
Patty and Manu played a combined 195 games last season.

Spurs doc just announced Diaw has "little fatass syndrome". Can't play this summer.

Which broke first, Manu's leg or Miami's willpower?

Definitely glad so see he won't be doing a whole lot this summer. Sorry Manu, but I'm more concerned with what's good for the Spurs (aka, what's best for me as a fan) and you playing for your country ain't it! Yes, I'm selfish... now go win back-to-back titles!

He has to make at least a token effort because apparently some stupid Argentinians are upset with him because he has missed international ball due to injuries in the past.

Argentina is having the same reaction that we have to Ginobili, just in reverse. They don't care about the Spurs and they want the best player their country has ever had to play for their national team. We don't care about international ball in Argentina, so we want him to only play for the Spurs. Playing for national teams as much as possible is a bigger deal to foreign players than it is for American born players.

Obviously I don't want him to play this summer, but I understand why he would be hopeful to be able to.

I should be Manu's decision to play for his country or not. Not the Spurs

The Spurs are his employer. It should be their right not to pay him if he risks their investment in him.

It would be if he didn't have a fracture in his leg.

I'm of the opinion that Manu was having trouble with the decision and the Spurs made it for him, which allowed him to save face and get the needed time off. I doubt he's very upset with the Spurs.

Yeah. I think he's probably relieved about it more than anything.
