Thought this could be a fun topic while things are slow. Everyone is always willing to admit what great opinions they had on certain players and teams and how right they were, but what about some opinions that you had that would likely have gotten you fired if you were a GM, or just shamed by the public.

Don't be afraid to be honest. It's only the internet.

For myself:

1. I would have taken Beasley over D-Rose in the 2008 draft. The fact that Love and Westbrook are at 4 and 5 makes that choice even worse.

2. I thought the Harden trade was a fair trade and that OKC might have even gotten the better of it when I first heard about it. Harden had just shiit the bed in the finals and I thought he'd be nothing more than a 19-22 ppg with a terrible shooting percentage on a bad team.

There's more but those were the 2 I could think of.

I've followed the Spurs closely since I was a kid, but I've never been interested in the NBA as a whole, so I don't get caught up too much in things like free agency and the draft. Having been a Spurs fan also influences how I view player moves, i.e. Why overpay for player X, when played Y is a lesser name but could give you similar production at a lower cost.

Idk if this would have gotten me fired, but I really wanted San Antonio to throw some money to bring in Tyreke Evans last offseason. He's by no means a bad player, but he's not worth the money he's making.

I thought Kevin Love and Joakim Noah would be flops in the NBA.

Oh put me down in the Joakim Noah flop camp

Last offseason I thought Manu was DONE and his contract was way too high.

I probably thought Richard Jefferson was a good idea at the time.

I still think trading for Eddie Griffin was a good trade. I don't care.

I was in the same camp regarding Love. Thought he'd be Psycho T 2.0. Lots of effort and good rebounding, but not much else. Shows what I know.

One of my favorites since their games in college couldn't have been much different.

Mine:

1. I thought Jordan Hill was going to be a high character version of Shawn Kemp.

2. In 2010, thought Derrick Favors was pretty much a can't miss next league superstar. That said, he has turned out better than Evan Turner which I remember arguing with some people about on here at the time.

I questioned if the Spurs needed another big man and thought Ron Mercer would have fit in nicely on our team. : (

Great move by the Grizzlies to trade Kevin Love for OJ Mayo.
Plus the Grizz picked up Antoine Walker and Marko Jaric (hot wife).

Mayo will be the next DWade or Kobe!!!

I thought the Mavs were stupid for trading a great young guard like Devin Harris for an over-the-hill Jason Kidd.

I would have picked Oden over Durant. Every. Single. Time.

+1 though at the time Harris was extremely promising

In your defense, Oden actually was extremely talented, had a good attitude, etc. As good as Durant? Probably not. But if he hadn't been made of brittle glass, he had the potential to become a player who put up 20/10 + offense-altering rim protection.

Injuries are really hard to predict.

I would have gone with Oden over Durant, too. If Oden could have stayed healthy, he would have been a franchise player. I don't look at that as bad judgment as much as a coin flip coming up tails.

I'm also in the Richard Jefferson was going to be a great add for the Spurs camp.

I also would have held on to George Hill at the time and let someone else draft Kawhi Leonard. That would not have ended nearly as well.

I think the vast majority of the world through Richard Jefferson was a great addition. Especially because the Spurs picked him up for two retiring players and a 45-year old Kurt Thomas.

Except that's about what he was worth to them after the trade.

I remember in 1992 I bought in on the Harold Miner sportscenter hype and wanted the Rockets to draft him, was pissed when they drafted some dude from Alabama named Robert Horry instead. #BabyJordan

I remember thinking Eddie Griffin was going to light the NBA on fire. I also didn't think Durant would translate well to the NBA.

I would've not made the Harden trade because at the time I was drinking a lot of Jeremy Lamb Kool-Aid and thought he was more versatile.
