@DarnellMayberry: The Thunder has announced that Kevin Durant has been diagnosed with a Jones fracture in his foot. He'll need surgery and miss 6-8 weeks.

Well not exactly what I wanted to read coming out of church this morning.

Welp, Spurs win the conference again.

Tough break. More like 10-12 weeks to get fully over any lingering effects from that type of foot injury from what I hear.

I think the Thunder will be decent. Westbrook will have his chances to be unquestioned #1 on the team.

Good thing Durant took off the summer.
(If he hadn't, everyone would be pointing at the excessive time spent on the National Team. Maybe it doesn't matter that much)

In fact an argument for the opposite could be made, shoulda kept playing

Does this increase westbrick's chances of sustaining an injury himself? Hard to go 42mins a night unscathed. At least they still got Ibaka.

Westbrook is gonna take 30+ shots per night

OKC would be smart to not push Russ and realize that losing some games early isn't the end of the world. Being a 3-6 seed with a healthy squad is still a better scenario than pushing your guys to the limit and fighting injuries all year long. Scott Brooks doesn't seem very bright though and the way he "manages" minutes, I expect Westbrook to play 45MPG while KD is out and them two to reverse injury roles the second half of the season.

Good point, the death blow would be Russ jacking up his knee again while KD is out

I wonder if Westbrook will start ball hogging
Deputy Travis Junior

Game 1: Westbrook took 26 shots and had 16FTs in 33 minutes. I think that's an affirmative on the ball hogging haha

I had a "Jones Fracture" in my foot a few years ago. I'm assuming they put a screw in his foot. If not then he will likely break it again. Those breaks don't heal fast on their own because there is very little blood flow in that part of your foot. It took me about 2 months before I was walking again. I'm sure KD will come back faster.

Apparently someone paid zero attention to the rest of the roster. The Thunder are traveling with 9 players on this road trip, and their second best scoring guard last night was someone who was a street FA this summer. I can't tell if you're trolling or just that ignorant. Oh and he outplayed Lillard by a longshot last night.
Deputy Travis Junior

Jesus Christ shove a tampon up there you angsty pansy. Nobody gives a **** what the Thunder's roster looks like, it's just funny to see Westbrook take 2 less shots (and more total shots + trips to the FT line) than the other 4 starters combined and average over a shot or a pair of FTs per minute.
Pahdz

Troll...got it. Why do you freaking care? You see a box score and you think you are funny.
Pahdz

You're right though, he is a ball hog, and right now he has to be. If he took ten shots last night and passed to a bunch of guys like Perry Jones the Thunder wouldn't have broke half a hundred. Are there going to be nights where Ibaka is 8 of 8 and Russ is 8 of 24? Probably, and he should get scorn for not getting Ibaka more involved in those nights. Last night was not one of those nights.

A troll is a poster that solely tries to get a rise out of people. That's not what I'm doing. I am posting it for other people on this board that also think it's hilarious that the thunder
-run a street ball offense
-have an idiot headcoach who publicly says that his group is a free throw shooting team (translation: "I can't run an offense")
-and that instead of using this as an opportunity to put extra offensive responsibility on the shoulders of those players who wouldn't normally carry it (ie develop a bench so that you're not counting on 38 year old Derek Fisher for scoring in the conference finals), he's gonna let Westbrook do literally whatever the f*** he wants for two months.

The thunder are good because Durant is one of the most gifted offensive players to ever take the court and Westbrook is an athletic freak. If not for those two Brooks would look completely inept.

For the record I don't really have anything against the thunder other than the fact that as a bball fan, I hate seeing Brooks piss away all that talent. If pop were coaching that team, he would have had a 70 win season and a title at some point in the last five years

I agree with this statement.

In fact Durant should come to the spurs when his contract is up.

If the thunder were in the east, I believe they would recover from this. (Depending on how long Westbrook is out)

If Westbrook is also out over 4 weeks, either the thunder ultimately could end up with a real strong draft pick, or the thunder survivors end up learning to play pretty decent team ball in the absence of their two stars, and when they return, they end up better.

I hope it's the first one. Unfortunately I think that the injuries sustained by the team will just have them more rested up come playoff time.

I think what is more likely is the replacements play well as a team and when Durant and Westbrick return everything goes to **** as they try to play one on one and take the ball out of everyone else's hands.

I'll throw out another possibility/prediction: Durant & Co end up the 7th or 8th seed, and teams seeded 1 & 2 end up "resting" a lot of players, several games, in order to avoid playing the Thunder in the first round.
Pahdz

The Grizz went 10-15 without Gasol and snuck in as a 7th seed.

This team has nothing like what the Grizz had so getting to that record through 25 games is gonna be a struggle.

Yea the west is so ridiculous. If you don't get to 50 wins you're sweating out the last few weeks to get into the playoffs. If Durant and Westbrook are out for 8 weeks and the thunder lose 15-20 games, they're gonna have to play almost flawless bball when they come back to even sneak in as an 8 seed.

It's crazy how stacked the west is. If I wasn't a Spurs fan, I'd actually be nervous about whether or not my team may get edged out of the playoffs with an injury or just some bad stretches.

I actually believe that with KD and Russ 40-17 is not an issue, it's finishing at least 10-25 in these first 25 games that scares me, but hey, you never know. If Perry Jones plays more like last night and less like opening night, I guess something is possible.
