A record since the 70s, impressive.

I do agree that 19 years as a shooting guard will get you a lot of misses but damn Kobe, that's a lot of shots.

i hate kobe/lakers as much as the rest of you, but if you look at the rest of the top, it includes people like MJ, Malone, and Kareem.

Not bad company, even if its a crappy record to have.

If he had Jordan's hands he might very well be the best ever... Phil Jackson even said that was the one thing that separated the two

Kobe 1-14 against the Spurs last night. Putting that record far out of anyone's reach.

44, 5, and 3 in 31 minutes. Shot 44%. The team as a whole is shooting 38%. The Lakers are a mess.

Just a quick recap of what a bad season Bryant is having in spite of his scoring numbers:

329th in WS/48
FG% 37.8% and 3PT% 28.6% add up to a TS% of 48.2%, good for 293rd in the league (out of 417)
67th in PER
150th in VORP

He's taking 4.6 more shots per game than 2nd place Lebron James. That is 24% more shots!

Kobe is averaging 24 shots per game. That has been done exactly 16 times over the course of a whole season in the three point era starting in '79-'80. The worst FG% is Bryant's 37.8%, a full 2 points behind the second-worst (Iverson '01-'02).

Iverson has the most appearances on the list at 5. He would have the five worst FG% if it weren't for Bryant this year and an anomalous appearance by Jerry Stackhouse. The most impressive season: Michael Jordan, who shot 53.5% while taking 24.4 shots per game in '87-'88 (and tossing in 5.5 boards, 5.9 assists, 3.2 steals, and 1.6 blocks for good measure).
