Tom Haberstroh of ESPN Insider posted an article a few days ago discussing the many impacts of accumulated minutes.

Link (if you have insider)

It's a decent article, but not a must read. However, it had this chart which shows players' career minutes

That blows my mind. Lebron turned 30 a month ago and he's already played more minutes than all of those guys who played years longer than he did. It makes me wonder how much he has left in the tank. Minutes played are a much better indicator of the tread left on the tires than actual age and he's already played an extended career's worth of minutes.

Yes. The teams he's been on rode him pretty hard to make it to the playoffs/win championships. When he starts to lose a step it will be dramatic and sudden, and Im betting it happens sooner than anyone thinks. He's already lost a lot of weight as compared to earlier playing days in order to decrease the wear, but it may be too late. Even the current Cavs require extended minutes from him.

I can't believe Lebron is already 30. I'm getting old too fast.

In a couple years he'll probably gain the weight back and play out of the post more. He has already done what it takes to be good when he's not the best athlete on the court, which is develop a good post game and jump shot (36-40% from three each of the last 4 years).

Go to the Spurs and re-invent yourself as a rich man's boris diaw as Pop squeezes every ounce out of your career and win more championships.

He has more than enough weight still to play post. He should commit to the lower weight for longevity.
