Arent the spurs only in the mix if Tim and Manu retire? And I'm guessing a Green trade.

At first glance, I give the spurs a 1 in 10,000 shot to get Durant. Duncan and Manu may leave, but I'm not sure anyone will take Green's contract, West is likely going to get a sweeter deal next year, and I doubt a prolific scorer will go to a team where he has to share the ball with Kawhi and Aldridge.

But then I think that he's actually decent team player, seems to be a good guy off the court, definitely wants to get the "ringless wonder" monkey off his back, Aldridge is probably planning on his role beginning to diminish anyway, and Durant may be willing to take somewhat smaller contract to make it work. With the cap going up, the dollars might work.

So I'll say that our odds of landing Durant double.

Kawhi/Durant would have to be the longest 2-3 duo ever though. Good luck stopping that.

Green is only 3y30mm after this year. The max in summer 2017 is going to be 40mm/year. 10mm for a starting D+3 is not bad.

diaw is only 2y14mm and I think the second year is partially guaranteed.

Move Diaw and you can give 20+ to Durant is Tim and Manu retire.

Danny better learn how to shoot threes again then. I don't think Durant would take a 50% payout anyway. He'll have several max offers.

This summer's Max will be about 27. Spurs can get there by dropping Green and having Tim and Manu retire.

Next summer's Max may be about 40/year.

Durant is going to sign a one year deal with OKC, then bolt when the cap spikes a second time.

Maybe it's just my perception but Durant seems like a prima donna.

1. He doesn't seem to like the pass. Now my sample size may be small but I watched a game where he took the ball up court 7 times and didn't pass once. I don't think that will fly in SA especially with Pop.

2. He says it pizzes him off that people are looking at Curry and Kawhi more than him.

I dunno, those things make me feel like he's not a type of player that will play Spurs basketball.

He's not what the Spurs usually go for.

But when Durant says he wants to play for your team, you figure out a way to work him in. He's going to go down as a top 10-15 scorer of all time. You don't turn that kind of talent down. You find a way to make it work.

One write up on Sporting News said ship diaw and parker. Don't think Tony should go but would you need a big time PG if you had Kawhi/Durant/LMA?

You definitely would need someone who could run the offense I think. But if that were the only option to get Durant, I would make the deal. No way the Spurs would do Parker like that though.

You wouldn't need a big name PG, but you would need someone to bring the ball up.

Not sure why OKC would want Parker when they would be rebuilding around Westbrook.

I find it really hard to believe the Spurs would ship Tony. He's taken less than market in his last two contracts to play for the Spurs.

Tony retires a Spur if he wants to. End of story.

Guy was a Finals MVP, and probably had an argument for MVP of the league just a few years ago. He was a main cog in 4/5 championships. You don't ship him off.

Pretty sure Tony has said he wants to be a Spur for life.

Best Spurs PG of all time.

Indubitably!

But the Little General will ALWAYS be prominent in Spurs lore. For reasons so obvious I refuse to post the picture.

Durant seems like a lovable loser to me.

He struggles in the final stages of playoffs as other teams get better. Durant cant create his own shot and has no post game. There is something funny to me about watching a 6-10 guy relying on outside shots. Sure is a nice guy though.

Durant can't create his own shot? Are we thinking of the same player?

cant create his own "good" shot. He is so tall that he can always just put up a contested jumper over a defender but that's not a shot you're going to in the last few minutes in a playoff game. Am I wrong?
Ulrich

He's probably one of the 2-3 toughest covers in the NBA in terms of his skills and the quality shots he can consistently get in an iso situation. He's shifty as all get out with great handles and feel for space, angles, and momentum.

OKC's utter lack of an offense hampers him significantly against good team defense like you see at the end of late round playoff games, but that's true of anyone in the NBA. There's not much penalty for collapsing into the paint to cut off all the driving lanes, and the better individual defenders know they have help so they can play tight to contest the jumper.

He probably takes some of the blame as a superstar for not demanding a smarter offense, but he's a crazy gifted scorer.

Really depends how high a percentage he can hit that shot.

Durant hit 54% of his FGs from 10-16 feet and 46% of his FGs from 16-23 feet. I'd say that he is good with shooting those contested mid range jumpers when he is hitting at those percentages.
