so I can only watch this SH** since it is on both FOX East and West coast feeds. you have two teams going at it both with better record and likely an ALCS preview and I am stuck with watching a mediocre yankee team and a terrible red sox team.

Not to "defend" Valentine for that debacle, but it seems to me that the only thing he was responsible for (accountable for, is something else) was the order, and perhaps the circumstances, in which he put those guys out there.

One could argue that he didn't get to choose these players to be on the Red Sox payroll. And I could definitely argue that, when it came down to it, those players were the ones who didn't succeed at their given tasks.

Not to rub salt in the wound, but Francona had a roster of equal or greater talent last season, and led them to an ignoble finish. It doesn't seem a good argument, that the guy who was fired for that failure would succeed now in less favorable circumstances.

I think Bobby is a good coach but the Red Sox just suck hard.

I'll take it a step further.

If they had not fired Francona after last season, he would be resigning today.

I've been trying to say since ST that the Sox aren't that good. I agree... they have less talent... the veterans are a year further past their prime.

Tito was the fall guy for last season's meltdown... Bobby V is a fill-in they were able to fill in, that is a seasoned, experienced coach. He is nothing more than a transition coach that was available and willing. More than likely they are lining up someone, that will be "more permanent."

Rangers are like the sips...few outside of Tejas care (though each would love to think otherwise)...Yanks and Sox...MUCH different story...sorry boys...just the way it is and ALWAYS shall be!

Don't care if they are on one feed but since I live out of market I need either one feed or the other feed East coast or west coast to be different. People on the west coast could have watched the perfect game but were stuck watching the Yankees and Red Sox which no one out side of Boston or New York beside band wagon fans care

yeah cuz a ton of people were going to be tuning in to the early part of a game between the white sox and M's

it's the best rivalry in sports. It should get top billing and be nationally broadcast every time they play no matter what the respective records are. Deal with it.

Best rivarly in sports? Maybe only because the national media has beat it into the heads of fans across the nation. If the yankees or Red Sox were on fire I would waste my piss to try and put them out.

I have little doubt that if someone were to go back and pull last season's 18 highest rated (tv ratings) regular season games, that at least 75% would be games played between the sox and yanks. Outside of the playoffs, it's what the majority of baseball fans want to see

it's like a carolina/duke basketball game (always the highest rated regular season college BBall games), if you truly are a fan of the sport of baseball you don't have to be a fan of one of the teams to appreciate watching when these two come together. Because without either of these 2 teams, the sport would have a fraction of the popularity that it currently has.

Worked on TV in front of the Camera for over 6 years I know how TV station buy and sell ad money. I understand capitalism just fine Would some in Texas that is not in the Rangers market rather watch the Rangers or Be forced to watch Yankees and Red Sox. It is funny how the NFL can figure to show games that regionally matter to fans but baseball can't


Also where is your data that these two teams having more then half the fans then the rest of the League? The Cubs and the Braves have just as many fans nationally as the Red Sox and the Yankees yet the whole nation isn't subjected to Their games being exclusively over the home town teams every Saturday afternoon.

Second highest in home percentage, 7th in road percent, 2nd overall percentage but they are now only a regional team? Other teams raise their ticket prices with the Sox come to town. WTF are you talking about?
