Gig Em Wacha
After his earlier start, last night Wacha pitched one inning of relief agin the Pirates, and if I remember correctly, he struck out the side with fastballs in the upper 90's.
Actually two innings and he struck out 4 of the 6 he faced.
Is Wacha expected to remain with the parent Cardinal ball club now?
All I know is that they want to limit his innings this year. If he keeps making relief appearances like that though they will have a tough time shutting him down. They are in need of somebody just like that right now.
It looks like they are grooming Wacha for relief stints.

Yeah i just read an article that stated they brought him up this time to use in late inning situations. Today he struck out the side in the 9th to hold a 4-0 win. So far in relief 3 innings, 7 strikeouts, no walks, no hits.

In a seemly weird maneuver, Michael was sent back to the minors temporarily but will be back early next week and will promply start a game.
With 4 games left on the schedule, the AAA Memphis Redbirds are currently tied for 1st place with Omaha Stormchasers. They probably want Michael to help secure 1st and a playoff birth.
It still appears that Michael Wacha will be a closer in the Bigs when the time is right.
Actually Michael gets a start Tuesday against the Reds.

Wacha starts tomorrow in Cincy at 6 PM. I don't know if it is being televised nationally. It's on Fox Sports Midwest here in Missouri.

Stepped away for a while. Wacha left after 6 in a scoreless game. Reds scored 1 in the bottom of the 7th (run not Wacha's), so Michael won't get a decision tonight.
I went ahead and bought Pirate/Cardinal tickets for Sunday. Hopefully Wacha earned another start tonight and Sunday will be the 5th day.

During the telecast tonight they announced that Wacha is starting Sunday at Busch against the Pirates.

Probably his best appearance yet. Not as manys Ks but that helped him get through 7. Only 2 hits allowed. Looked really comfortable.
