*IF* Texas winds up tied with TB or Cleveland and must play a 1-game tiebreaker on Monday, Martin Perez will be your starter (that's pretty much a given).

But if Texas wins, who starts in Wednesday's 1-game wildcard playoff.

It will be Matt Garza's turn in the rotation, but with tomorrow's start time moved up to 11am, if Holland pitched on "short rest" on Wednesday night, you're talking about maybe a 5-6 hour deficiency in rest-time over say a "regular rest" Saturday night -> Thursday afternoon start. It would be short-rest, but not your typical 13-14 hour deficiency.

If Texas went with Holland over Garza, it really wouldn't impact the ALDS playoff rotation if they made it there... Darvish will still start Game 1, but you'd swap Garza to Game 2 and Holland to Game 3 -- the travel day Sunday would actually put Holland back pitching on regular rest. Perez Game 4, and Darvish Game 5.

Now in that situation you have Garza pitching on the road in Game 2 instead of at home in Game 3, but I'd roll the dice on that in a 5 game series than putting him out there in a win-or-go-home wildcard playoff game.

I agree with everything you just said. It will also help If the Rangers grab a big lead early tomorrow and Holland only has to go 5 or 6.

I'm torn on this because Holland hasn't beaten anybody but Houston and Seattle since July. This includes 4 stinkers in some very important games. On the other hand, Garza has had an atrocious September. I don't have faith in either of them. Hopefully they're both due for a good stretch.
