I really like deals like this. Perez guarantees himself some extra money and the Rangers make a low risk high reward investment.

This is interesting.

He is a under team control until after 2018 (counting Arb).

So, they've basically minimized their Arb impact and obtained a couple more years.

He'll be FA sometime around 30. If they have him locked through 30... that is incredibly favorable.

Makes me wonder if the announcement Darvish was Top 3 finalist for Cy Young has them really contemplating the fact Darvish may get released early from his contract.

Do we not think Darvish will stick around even if he can exercise as a FA? I got to imagine we will be in the mix.

Oh and I love this deal for both sides!
