Some executives are convinced that Texas will emerge as Boston's greatest competition for Mike Napoli; his 1B play an eye-opener for scouts.

McCann at the plate, Nap at first?
Yes please!

I wouldn't be disappointed by those.

Napoli has not received a multiyear offer from Boston, but rather just a one-year offer at a higher salary than the $14.1MM qualifying offer he rejected on Monday.

The Werth contract aside, I think a fair average annual value for a very good player who is not a superstar is around $16-17MM. Ultimately I expect McCann to sign a five-year, $80MM deal.

So -
Nap at 2yr/$28M? (.260\20HR)
McCann at 5yr/$100M? (.277\20HR)
That'd lock up 1B and C... DH.
Still would need a LF.

That's $34M + Soto at $3M.

Add that Rosales was resigned for $750K. We have about 10 Serfs\Arbs.

COTS has us at $91M for 2014, with Soto (not Rosales). We're at about $125M add the 10 Serfs\Arbs...

We'd have Moreland and Kinsler (or Andrus) to trade. Rosales ensures one of them is gone. Moreland might be worth a LF position... or DH.

Would love to trade Andrus. LOTS of optios with the Dodgers, Cards, et al.

In the above roster scenario, Napoli plays 1B over Kinsler.

Moreland has minimal trade value, so I'd be surprised to see him trade, unless as a filler in a larger deal.

Soria or Scheppers will close. Feliz will be a middle/set up guy at best.

Agreed - Feliz won't close. His future in Texas is limited, even with Nolan moving on. Scheppers (3 years of team control) first, then Soria (FA after 2014).

Robbie Ross continues his case for SP.

Pitching in DWL:

10/29: 0.1 IP \ 4 ER \ 4 H \ 2 BB
11/03: 3.0 IP \ 1 ER \ 1 H \ 1 BB
11/09: 5.0 IP \ 0 ER \ 3 H \ 1 BB
11/15: 5.0 IP \ 1 ER \ 4 H \ 1 BB

I guess he may start again tomorrow?!

I saw a rumor a few weeks ago that teams were calling about Moreland, thinking his trade value may be low.

Lots of chips to trade (or maybe my wishful thinking).

The battle for the 5th spot in the rotation will be fun:
Harrison - Tepesch - Ross - Other?

Too bad it is Fielder at first so Napoli would have to catch if he is going to play for the Rangers!

Fielder can DH.
