Some interesting ones in there. Obviously WAR isn't everything.

It's the classic debate...HR's and RBI versus WAR. It's why you see Keith Law calling out people on twitter for voting MCab over Trout.

He even called out the STL beat guys for voting Yadi over Cutch.

It's a blood fued with the sabre guys.

this guy had a pretty good article

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mike-trout--baseball-s-best-player--deserved-mvp-once-again-over-miguel-cabrera-053640882.html

in short, cabrera was the best HITTER in the league this year, playing a low premium position. Trout (for the 2nd straight year) was the best PLAYER in the league, playing a high premium position.

MCab doesn't play a premium position or he does, but just does so poorly?

MLB averages...

BA: 3B-.259, CF- .261
OBP: 3B- .322 CF- .327
SLG %: 3B- .411 CF- .402

SB: 3B-5 CF- 22

Which one is the premium position?

Cabrera hit .348. The next best qualified 3B hit .321.

Cabrera hit 44 home runs. The next best 3B hit 36- with a BA of .233. Four total hit better than .300, with the 5th best average at .283.

Cabrera had a .442 OBP. The next best 3B had a .384. Four total had an OBP above .347.

Cabrera slugged .636. The next best 3B slugged .509.

Cabrera's OPS was 1.078. The next best 3B slugged .883. Six total slugged better than .800.

And it goes on and on. At some point in there I don't care if Cabrera plays a "premium" position or not. He arguably may be the best offensive player in the game. I don't care if a 3B in theory doesn't impact a game as much if Cabrera does in fact, impact a game that much.

That said, Trout probably deserved the MVP.

Ted Williams is the only player in the history of the game to lead all of MLB (1942) and the AL (1947) in runs, walks, home runs, RBI's, and batting average. No player has done that in the NL. He did not win the MVP in either season. He somehow did not make this list either.

If Kemp getting screwed gets included then we can also throw in every MVP that Albert Pujols lost to Barry Bonds after 1998

good article, but he left out 2 big ones:

1989 AL MVP should have been Ruben Sierra over Robin Yount

1991 NL MVP should have been Bonds over Terry Pendleton

Agree with both yours, W.

Also, really 1987 should have been Ozzie Smith over Dawson or Gwynn. Ozzie hit .303, 104 runs, 182 hits, 40 2Bs, 75 RBI, 43 SB and he only made 10 errors in 771 chances. Cards won their division and played in the WS. Cubs were the Cubs that year.

This topic makes me think of a few years back when Canseco admitted he roided up in his MVP year (88) and Mike Greenwell appears from out of nowhere to say, "OK, guess I was MVP that year then, where's my trophy?"
