Last season, the roof was open for only 14 of the team's 81 regular-season home games -- and most of those were in April.

It drives me crazy

It's an issue with both stadiums in Houston. We spent all this money to have retractable roofs and they both stay closed 90% of the time. We are such sissy fans who can't handle non-perfect weather conditions.

I remember when they opened the roof in the middle of the game. I loved that. Even though it was still muggy outside it didn't bother me so much.

Jerry World is the same way.

These things are much like the sunroof in cars - nice thought but just a waste of money in reality.

And if you are only going to open it in perfect weather, then what's the point of opening it at all? You already have it "perfect" closed.

They've opened the roof for about a third of Cowboys games, so its not going totally unused.

I've never been more perfectly comfortable than the few times I've been to Jerry's World and the roof and endzones have been open. It creates an ever so slight breeze, and, I don't know, its just great, haha.

I wish they'd open them more often, and I've heard Jerry Jones say the same. However, people who don't like it are the vocals ones and I just think they get tired of listening to folks *****.

The Rangers kept their roof open for all 81 games, I believe.

Of course, we were fused to our chairs by the 5th inning in July...

The majority of Astros games the weather is pretty miserable. I wouldn't mind them to start opening it around the 7th inning like the used to when it's cooled off

was that an MLB rule that keeps them from doing that anymore? it was always pretty nice when they'd open it up at night.

I hate domes/retractable roofs. i know that's kinda sacrilege being from Houston

Didn't they stop opening it to maximize crowd noise going into their World Series run? I remember there was a huge fight between the Astros and Cardinals during the NLCS about that stupid roof, then MLB said we had to leave it open if conditions were right. Then we lost the World Series and everyone blamed the damn roof.

Then the Astros came out with the "rule" that if it started closed, it would stay closed and if it started open, it would stay open to pacify the other teams who were a bunch of whiny babies anyways.

I was at a Astros game on a sunday several years ago and I remember they kept the roof open, it was so ******* hot the fans were chanting "close the roof". It was completely miserable and I remember Richard Justice writing a article in the chronicle the next day saying how Drayton had let the fans down,(because the roof being open wasn't known ahead of time).

That was a terrible experience... if I know it's gonna be hot and the roof is open, I won't attend.

Outdoor baseball for the majority of the country is a great thing but in Houston, not so much. I prefer it open in April but that's about it.

I've been attending Astros games since the very early 80's, family had season tickets from 1982-2009.

Starting games closed in the daytime and then opening it at night was fantastic.

according to the article it states the roof can only be opened between innings it takes almost 15 minutes for the roof to open and they're only allotted 3 minutes between innings that seems to be the problem now

As was said, in the early days they used to open it up late in the game. That was fine, but ain't no way I want it open all game. Way too damn hot.

Read yesterday that at least the Astros are taking down the signs blocking the view of downtown.
