A little subjective, but a good visualization.

I saw this yesterday and liked it. I generally agree broadly with the placements for just about all teams. The giant outlier to me is the Red Sox on the youth scale. They don't really have an abundance of major league youth talent. They best several of their players are veterans. The minor league system is very good, but so much so that they are the 3rd best in 'young talent'? I'd have thought they'd be somewhere more around where Tampa is, maybe even more in the middle closer to Texas.

I think "young talent" is based on farm system ratings, and thus excludes players at the major league level. Thus, the Rangers are docked for having Perez and Profar at the major league level in terms of "having young talent", and meanwhile the Red Sox, who have little young talent on their major league roster, still have a high ranking according to this chart.

No way it excludes Major League talent. The Mariners are pretty high in this chart and have a bottom third farm system.

He is including players in the majors under 30 as "young talent".

Well, that is pretty silly. Young talent matters because it is cheap and long term control. Guys past their arbitration years really shouldn't be included.

Still, I think it's pretty accurate overall. I love how you only see like 1/4 of the Astros logo.

Is it just me, or are the Dodgers missing from the chart?

Its not silly.

Young talent also matters because young players, in theory, get better or at least sustain. Old players, in theory, get worse.

Most guys under 30 are not past their arbitration years.

Maybe drop the age a bit.
