It's about a month into the season and I was just curious what everyone's opinion is of the replay rules now that we've seen them in use for a while.

I was not a fan of it originally and I will admit that I've cone around a little and don't hate it as much as I thought I would. There is one part about it that really grates on me though. I do not like the slow managerial walks out of the dugout that occurs 5 times a game while they review it upstairs to tell him whether or not to challenge. I think that they should either have to call for a review or not. The slow playing they do drives me nuts and disrupts the flow of the games way too often for my liking.

I'm a big fan so far. I think the league has done a good job of executing the reviews - all the ones I've seen have been quick, decisive, and unafraid to overturn a wrong call even if it's close. I think all of that comes from having a centralized review crew with more technical resources/expertise, as well as being detached from the game crew where in other sports I think sometimes there is hesitation to overturn a close play and consider one of your crewmates "wrong". In NCAA football, I swear some of the replay booth guys are either senile or drunk.

The manager slow walk might be a little frustrating, but I prefer it over a manager having a long discussion about a call that we all knew wasn't going to be changed (under the old rules).

I do agree with that and I also agree that the actual reviews are not as bad as I was expecting. Like I said, the part that I don't like is the many times the managers make the 3 minute walk out to "talk to the ump" a la that Tim Conway character from the Carol Burnnet show (I'm old enough to know he existed but not old enough to know any more than that. haha)

Don't like it very much but I don't hate it either.

There are less opportunities to see a manager to go postal on the umps.

I've always found the charm of guys like Earl Weaver one the more entertaining aspects of the game.

I wasn't really in favor of it being instated. For the most part, baseball is easy enough to make the correct calls on the spot. Yes, there will be some bang bang plays that might not be the correct call, but I find that kinda adds to baseball. Don't hate it, but I'm still not sold

I was in favor but don't like how it has been done so far. The whole slow stroll to the ump while the team review needs to go away. Not sure how yet, certain amount of time from end of play, getting past a certain spot on field or something makes it so you can't challenge.

Also the replays seem way too long and often incorrect. It's like they are going "well that was pretty close so let's not overturn" when it is still wrong.

The transfer rule was also horrible but finally fixed.

In favor. Get the call right.

The biggest change needs to be some announcement to crowd to know what was being challenged and the result. Most plays you know what it is, but I was at a game when the count was reviewed and no one had an idea of what was going on.

Seen lots of calls that should have been reversed based on what was a no brainer on the video shown on TV, but let the play stand. Very frustrating. Do they not have those views, or what?
Plus, not being able to challenge multiple plays in an inning is absurd. All plays at home should be automatically reviewed.
Saw a play earlier this year of the giants vs someone. Matt Cain picked off the runner at first clear as day, but called safe. Reviewed, play stands despite multiple camera views showing it was a bad call. A few minutes later that same guy scored on a passed ball that was clearly tagged out by Matt Cain, but called safe. And no way to review. So...same guy should have been out twice within a matter of minutes, but ends up scoring. Wtf?

It's like it adds a whole new element of frustration.
