I'm a little surprised that we haven't seen Tomas Telis in the show yet. We've been trotting out AAA catchers all season and he's been having a fantastic year with the stick. I've seen him play several times over the last couple of years and haven't seen any issues with his defense. In a blog post that I read yesterday, some posters were claiming that he will be a free agent after this season. I don't understand the hesitation with the dismal performance of our catching corps at the plate. It's really hard to find write ups on a low level prospect like that. Have any of you guys come across any articles that have some insight into the situation?

I think he is Rule V eligible after this season:

With all the other issues with the roster... getting him on the 40 would be challenging. Jumping from AA... as a catcher would seem like a big jump. They have the 40, of which 25 are active. DL15 count against the 40, but not the 25... DL60 do not count against either. So, of the 15 players, 6 are on DL15. You have to protect any Rule V with those 15 spots.

If here were a threat to be grabbed... the Rangers might protect him, but it is a tough count. Alfaro is higher touted, but still a few years away.

Chirinos: 29
Gimenez: 31 (150 career MLB GP)

JP: 28
Soto: 31

Even Snyder (32) would be ahead of him.

The fact the Rangers were able to grab Gimenez was helpful.

I think JP gets another shot before Telis. I think Telis is locked at AA, for now.
