Just turning it on. How did Colby look?

Pretty much the same. Starts off okay and fades. Lots of baserunners - I think 11 in 5 innings. He was out of the game after 5 innings and > 100 pitches, but they were at least still in it down 3-1. However, an error by Odor (not a terrible one) left the door open after the Rangers came back and, as usual this year, Cotts couldn't close that door and get them out of the inning.

Ump's strike zone was bad and, worse than that, inconsistent. Rangers should have been out of two innings were it not for bad calls.

Better tonight. Darvish just can't lose any games for the rest of the season.

No kidding. At least they've been getting him some run support.

So what's the answer on CG or CG SO? They seemed to be using those terms interchangeably last night.

I think they would have let him finish that game against Houston last year if it hadn't been so early in the year.

An astros fan talking about lack of fan support? You're sure you really want to go there? Well, I guess you'd be an expert on it.

It was due to a combination of:

1) Darvish typically has high pitch counts (due in large part to his K-rate).

2) Before the last few starts, the Rangers have been notorious for not giving him any run support.

3) Before this season the Rangers bullpen had been one of the best in the league, so #1 and #2 above typically led to the ball being handed over to shutdown 8th and 9th inning guys.

I think Yu is make a more concerted effort to trust his stuff and pitch to contact. He'll always be enamored with the strikeout, but he's trying. The prospect of Yu throwing a no-hitter may be the only intrigue left for this season.
