It sure seems like it. We have NY reluctant to overturn obvious bad calls and we have umps in the late innings refusing to even ask for a replay. The standard for NY sure seems to be that if the ump was in position and the play was bang bang or his view obstructed, we are not going to reverse it even though the video evidence is irrefutable. As to the umps self reviewing in the later innings it appears some are way more willing than others.

Why can't the actual game umpires look at the replay? So many times a coach has disagreed and they have nobody to explain the reasoning because a bunch of guys across the country made the call.

I completely disagree with everything you wrote. I actually find that the replays have turned over more calls than I've expected them too, sometimes in cases where I think its inconclusive at best, they are overturning. I think the fact that its umps independent of the game being played has encouraged more overturns than if it was guys reviewing their own calls. I have yet to see a situation where a team wanted the umps to undertake a review in the late innings where they didn't get it.

Actually both scenarios happens last night in the Dbacks Brewers game and there were a couple of obvious wrong calls over the weekend that replay upheld and the video was clear, no doubt.

I'm with Squirrel. I must be missing all of these bad replays, because so far, I've agreed with almost every replay overturn and confirmation that I've seen. In some cases, I've seen them overturn stuff that I wasn't sure was completely clear (so I've seen more overturns than I expected), but in most of those cases, I still think they made the right call. So in my anecdotal viewing, I'd say they've been at least 90%+ correct in the action they've taken, which includes correcting a number of bad calls made on the field. And they've been consistent with doing the review quickly.

I haven't seen stats recently, but after the first month of the season or so, around 40% of the calls were being overturned and they were on a pace to overturn 450 calls over the course of the season. While I know it's not been perfect, that's quite a bit of correction of initial human error caused by the bang-bang nature of making calls live, and I think the disruption has been minimal.
