Desperate times these days. Has Gallo ever played 1st Base? Seems like he has the frame for it. I'd much rather take my chances with him than a 36 year old Pena.
Rangers just need warm bodies. Would calling up Gallo be part of "development"? Kid was in A ball a few weeks ago. I'd rather them take their time with him.
True, but the kid is hitting the cover off the ball right now. They've rushed Sardinas and Odor and its worked out pretty well thus far. May as well try it with Gallo. I guess if he starts playing 1st at Frisco we'll know.
This line up needs more pop. You saw what happened last night when they finally started hitting it over the fence. They're the second to worst team in the league when it comes to hitting homeruns. I'm excited to see what Gallo can do.
Rushing a top prospect up because you have a temporary need right now is never a good idea. We did that with Jordan Lyles and the dude was never a good pitcher for us. You gotta let the kids develop in the minors before you throw them to the wolves. Calling up Gallo right now to play a position he doesn't normally play would not be a smart thing to do
Odor and Sardinas both had 200+ AB's in AA before getting the call-up.
Soonest you'll see Gallo in a Rangers uniform would be September callups -- and that would likely depend on whatever control/arb situation that would put him in (if it gives us one less year of control I doubt you see him in September unless we're suddenly a contender -- not sure how the control issue works for Sept callups though).
Gallo is a great prospect, but he needs to spend this season in AA. Sending him essentially straight from A ball to the majors would be ridiculous. Don't **** him up with premature ejaculation. Let him continue to learn how to hit.
