I like the way these guys play. Where are they going to fit in next year...considering the return of injured players, FA signings, etc? I don't keep up with the ins and outs of the Rangers like some of you guys do, so would appreciate what y'all think.

TIA

There is a need for a broader thread about the Rangers looming 40 man conundrum, but until I get a chance to put that together, I think Smolinski is likely on the opening day roster or AAA if we happen to sign a FA outfielder. I think Rua will unfortunately be a candidate for a DFA with the hope that we could retain him and he not get claimed off waivers.

I've kinda been lurking baseball from afar... got too many things going on...

I didn't realize Rua was Rule V Eligible.

I haven't seen them play...but I suspect Rua and Smolinski are role players, but not really going to be difference makers for the Rangers. IMO, both are likely utility guys in 2015.

I agree a broader thread likely needs to be launched.

I think this Offseason could be crazy busy. Injury situation will likely have to come around. Profar was shut down again this week, with a 3 month rest, until throwing "could" resume if clear MRI. So, IF, that is concerning.

Beltre - Andrus - Odor - ?1B

Odor is solid at 2B... Beltre has 3B barring injury. Andrus with another disappointing season. I'd love to know more about Fielder.

Rua could do 3rd, is listed as SS, but has played at MLB level at 1B and OF. My guess is Fielder has the door at 1B.

I just can't see the Rangers holding on to Andrus, although I expect he'll be at SS in Arlington for 2015, if for only stability, considering the injuries this season.

OF - Engel Beltre... need to get an update on him... He is Rule V.

Choo (DL) - Martin - Rios...
Choice...

We have bodies. They mentioned last night that Leonys is 3rd All-Time for Rangers in bunt singles. Behind Borbon and Otis Nixon, IIRC. Speed. Power? Not so much.

Choo's ankle?

Rios in final year.

So, not much power in the OF.

I think the Rangers have some Cash...

Between guys currently on the 40 man roster, guys on 60 day disabled list, and a few other guys that will absolutely be added to 40 to protect them from the Rule 5 draft, the Rangers have something like 60 guys for 40 spots (if they plan to fill all 40).

I think Moreland will be non-tendered. I think Rios gets bought out, then offered a QO so that he either stays for about the same price or Rangers get a draft pick, I think Ogando gets non-tendered. Some of the young guys playing now are going to have to be DFA'd - Rua and Sardinas, some of the pitchers. Arencibia is getting DFA'd. I think the organization is going to have a serious discussion on whether Harrison can ever play again, and if it seems unlikely, I think he gets DFA'd.

These 2 and Robertson should be on the roster next year. Should cut and run on Rios [Salary], Rosales [inconsistent and 30], Adducci [inconsistent and 30]. Profar health an issue. I say move Yu. This guy is a 10-12 game winner - too f'n selfish and arrogant. Team needs inning, wastes too much effort going for strikouts - too many pitches - can't stay healthy- poorly spent $$$$.
