Help me with the Rangers' trainers tie-in, here...
Record 115 MLB players start season on DL.
There are a ton of players hurt this year.
The Rangers are tied for the lead with Oakland, at 8.
Who are they?
Darvish & Martin Perez both have TJ. I don't know of any connection between training TJ surgery.
Matt Harrison has been on the DL for like 2 years because of back fusion surgery. That, AFAIK, isn't a trainer issue, but a genetic issue.
Scheppers was drafted as a fragile player that would likely spend time on the DL.
Profar's injury is something they've been trying to rehab. He hasn't really been part of the Rangers team. I don't know that it is a conditioning issue. They have had a number of setbacks on rehab.
Antoan Richardson was a pickup from the NYYs in the offseason signed as a FA in Dec 2014 to a minor league deal. He had surgery for a herniated disk.
Fujikawa was also signed in December 2014, from the Cubbies.
Lisalverto Bonilla is the only player that may apply. I don't know much about him, his injury or his status.
Last year you had Holland who had his dog trip him on the stairs.
It isn't like a bunch of hamstrings. Didn't Juan Gonzalez have to hit the DL for bending over and tying his shoe?!
When you look at some of the Rangers players... they are scrapping the bottom of the bowl. Over the years they have picked up a number of pitchers who were coming off injury, including TJ, in hopes they could sign them cheap for 2 years and get some mileage out of them.
6 of the 8 players are pitchers. That shouldn't surprise anyone.
