Pujols contract is sucking them dry and they have the worst farm system according to MLB people.
quote:That's not possible. We've been told the Angels TV contract makes their payroll cap non-existing.

We'd have to pay someone to take Gomez. Then he'll promptly turn into a .280-.300 hitter again.

Can't let one player handicap the future of your franchise. It will be a business decision

Trout straight up for Bobby Wilson

I don't follow MLB that closely so forgive the dumb question: what's CJ's status with the Angels? Didn't exactly get their money's worth with him either.
What if the Rangers offered to accept Hamilton's full contract and a few prospects in return for Trout. 1) would that get him and 2) would it be a good trade? (I know -- depends on who, but I don't know who they have; so mention and analyze). Of course, the problem with this is that it gets the Angels out of a huge hole or at least lets them float a little higher.

CJ Wilson will be a free agent after this season. He's been making $20 million a year and no, they didn't get their money's worth.
They would like to get out of the Hamilton contract I'm sure but it's over after next season so getting rid of it would not help them but in short term.
And if they thought they could compete in the short term, why would they trade their best player for prospects?

Heard that the Sox are looking at this. And, quite frankly, it makes total sense for them considering that this is Papi's last season...
They'll have money to spend and I am certain that Trout's agent has discussed the value of East Coast bias on the hall of fame ballot.
quote:I'd have no issue dealing AAA and AA players (maybe not pitchers - they need help there). Minus Papi the rest of the starting 9 is pretty young. It would be beneficial to both teams and the players that would be dealt. The Sox outfield is currently pretty stacked so they'd be able to move one of them as well. It would likely be Brock Holt who is an immediate value because of his versatility.quote:

That and the soxs have the young talent and farm system to make it work
quote:Me neither. It was a joke.
I don't think Trout is going to need any bias to get into the Hall of Fame.

Is this just all just sports talk radio fan speculation or are there real sources saying the Angels are shopping him?
I haven't heard or seen anything so I'm guessing it's the former?

I've heard it from small (the horn) to big sports talk (cowherd) and even SI and espn have talked about
