He's an a-hole. Just like 100s, perhaps 1000s of other players that have played and still play the game. I like having that kind of attitude on my team. Even if it's just in case a fight breaks out.
The thing is because of how sterile sports has become when someone plays hard and doesn't "let up" to give the other guy a break, he's viewed as an a-hole.
It's not that 100s of players that still play the game are a-holes... It's that 1000s of players that still play the game play without much competitive fire and treat it like a business. There's no true rivalries anymore. It's all about putting up #'s and not getting injured -- not about making an effort to un-nerve the players on the other team and gain an advantage.
I love the bat-flip. I love the punch to the jaw. I love that sports teams don't like each other. That's rare these days.
