Such a terrible, terrible call. That's what amazed me most at the time - how it was not even close. You never see a first base call missed that badly, and of all the times to blow it.

in hindsight, the prevelance of the surrender monkey is kind of funny.

This still makes me absolutely sick. Like, even more sick than when my favorite teams lose.

That guy wasn't a great pitcher - he wasn't even good, but he achieved greatness that day with a little bit of luck and a lot of defensive help... All to have it snatched from him by one of the worst calls at the worst times that I've ever seen. I can't even imagine being robbed like that.

The blown call was on Galarraga's 83rd pitch. It would've been the second most efficient perfect game ever. It also would have been the third in a span of 25 days, which is remarkable considering there have only been 23 in the history of MLB.

Probably not even close but what's worse?

This blown call or the batter who leaned into Max Scherzer's pitch to break up his perfect game.

Joyce, no question. MLB umps don't miss calls that badly at 1st. The only thing I thought was truly weak about the HBP was doing it while wearing armor. Otherwise, it's a game where my goal is to get on base. Throw me something I could lean into, I jist may take the base that way.
