Orange shoes make this look closer than it is. He clearly hit it.

Good baserunners don't plant their feet on the middle of the bag, it slows you down and is a great way to turn an ankle.

When watching live I thought he had missed it, and on the first replay during the broadcast. Watched the replay on Youtube several times and at 0.5 speed, and finally convinced myself he did touch it.
