the city sued the county for trying to sell its share of the Coliseum to the A's so the commish threatens the mayor that the A's could move to LV if she doesnt drop the suit. I hope that ****hole city loses them. Once the A's are gone all the professional teams will have left it.

Wouldn't this make the A's much more competitive? I mean wouldn't they have more money to spend? They already build very good teams on a shoe string budget.

I'll believe it when I see it. MLB is already saying the reports are overblown.

Good idea city officials. Oakland needs more slums not a redevelopment area.

Amen to that. Texags block of seats!

I said the same thing for when the Raiders moved there. It will be a road game every week for the Raiders. The opponents fans every week will treat that as a weekend vacation.

When I lived in Vegas I went to a lot of games at Cashman Field. In fact my kids first Rangers game was a pre season game there against the Cubs. Vegas may have the best weather possible for baseball.

The funny thing is it would displace their AAA team. They just built a expensive stadium for their AAA team as well.

Pre season is March, though. What's the weather for a Sunday home game with a 1pm local start in July/August? Or the same Friday and Saturday night games of that same hypothetical series? Google says average high of 107.
This thing would have to have a roof, right?

Yikes. As an Astros fan and a Vegas fan, I am definitely rooting for this to happen. Would visit Vegas often for Astros series. But Vegas summers are incredibly hot, even at night. I'd be shocked if this went down if they did not do a retractable roof or dome.

San Diego or Bay Area is probably always going to win the best baseball weather award. Or Minute Maid Park, technically.

Oh I agree that they would build a retractable roof, but summers in Vegas are not incredibly hot IMHO. It's nothing like DFW. I lived there for five years and can never remember a time when it was too hot to sit outside after the sun went down. We used to go to Cashman Field all of the time in the summer and it was fantastic baseball weather.

Also, sun sets earlier there than it does here. Even in June it's dark by 8:00.

I played the Wynn golf course once on a Friday August afternoon. There was only one other foursome on the whole course and we were told that was pretty typical for the summer. If it's too hot for golf........

Yea but you are talking about the middle of the day. I am talking about watching a baseball game at night.

Except MLB rules specifically require day games and you already previously admitted "it would obviously have to be a dome".

Yes. Of course they will build a dome. I am not arguing that they wont build a dome. I am sure they will build a retractable roof. And yes, day games are required.

All I said was summer nights in Vegas are great for baseball. That's it. That was my only point.

They wont be playing open air games at night when it is still 105 at 530 pm a few minutes from first pitch.

I also doubt they will have too many 5:30 first pitches.

I don't care what you say about dry heat vs humidity. I was in Vegas in June several years ago when it was 123, and it was hellish. Even at 10 pm it was still in the 90s. An enclosure is a must.
