Seems really risky on his part. I know the Yankees need an ace, but is he really worth what he already was getting, much less adding another year. Seems like he's giving the Yankees an easy out of his contract only to not get anywhere near what he's already making from the market. They can probably get Burnes for cheaper than what Cole was already getting.

I agree, but why would the Yankees opt back into that deal plus another year tacked on? If I'm them, I'm jumping at the chance to get out of it. Unless he's got assurances from them already, he's taking a really stupid risk.
