We are going to Boston for sure this Summer and go to a Red Sox game for the first time where they play the Yankees because I can see that rivalry up close lol and we also may take a trip to NYC later in the Summer and if so, I'm going to go to a Yankees game just to cross it off the list. We've been to NYC several times so I know how all that works but any advice on the Yankee game, mostly where should I sit? I can see the actual game from any seat but what sections or area would give the coolest experience? And the same question for a Red sox game in Boston? Also any cool food or drink suggestions at either park or anything else I should know? Thanks!

Yankee stadium was very meh to me. Everything around the field is trash.

Fenway on the other hand is magical. Get there early and stroll around outside the ballpark before going in. Tons of cool bars and the people are fantastic. Inside is even better. IMO sit somewhere between the bases behind home plate if possible. The old seats aren't comfortable but it is part of the experience.

I've been to Sox/yankee series at both fields and Fenway blows it out of the water imo. In my experience Boston fans loved to talk crap and have fun (I was there in Yankees gear). It was never contentious just good ribbing. I would go back to games at Fenway in a heartbeat. I'd be okay to never go to yankee stadium again. There was nothing special about it. Fenway has ton of Sam Adam's beers. Yankee stadium has pinstripe I believe it's called which is kinda there Crawford bock. Although I believe it's a lager and not a bock.

Fenway has a bunch of obstructed (& partially obstructed views) so be careful about sitting too far back on the first deck. But otherwise I don't really have much to add other than a Yankee/Red Sox game there is a lot of fun (even if you aren't a fan of either of the teams).

Cool those are good suggestions. We're going to Boston strictly to check out a Red Sox game but we're going to NY for the rest of NY and just marking off the Yankee game while we're there in town so I know it's not nearly as cool as Fenway. But I'm still excited to see it.

You'll like Fenway more. Both are great.

At Fenway as the poster above said be weary of the large beams in the stands. Check views from the seats you are going to buy online… there's a few websites that'll do it. Go check out any of the bars around the stadium… it's an amazing area. We had a blast. We sat in the right field bleachers and behind home plate about halfway up. Both excellent experiences. I personally really enjoyed the right field bleachers. Also definitely do the stadium tour… totally worth it.

Yankee stadium is great too, and not really a bad seat in the house. Take the subway early and just be prepared to not linger around before and after the game in the Bronx. The fun stuff is in Manhattan

I'll echo most of what the others said.

The kids and I hit Fenway, Yankee, and Citi Field last year. I had been to Yankee Stadium before and have been underwhelmed both times.

Citi Field is vastly underrated. Very fan friendly and the stadium experience keeps you engaged.

At Fenway, we sat in section B124 Row MM. Do not sit past row MM. The very next row behind us consisted of the old, wooden, narrow seats. It was great to see them and also great that we weren't sitting in them. These seats were to the right of home plate on the 1st baseline. Great seats and Fenway was awesome. My kids (one loves baseball, the other goes for the cotton candy) loved it and talk about visiting again.

The folks at Yankee Stadium think you should be honored to be in their presence, there is no atmosphere (except my first trip - Judge hit a walk-off HR to win the game 1-0.) As far as where to sit, I have sat in section 318 row 1 both times. This is a "special" section (Jim Beam and/or Pepsi lounge) and you have access to a private club with free popcorn, peanuts, and soft drinks.

Have a great time. We still haven't made our baseball trip plans for the summer. We may just drive to KC one weekend and catch Kauffman before it is demolished.

I've been to both. The new Yankee Stadium is like going to Jerryworld.

Fenway is awesome. Ride the train, hit bars before the game. I wanted to try several but never got past the Cask & Flaggon.

Next time I go, I'm sitting atop the Green Monster.

One more thing, apparently, if you're wearing a shirt in Boston, you're over dressed.

also want to add this thread pisses me off. I'm jealous. Fenway/Boston was probably one of the best trips I've been on. I loved the city, food, Fenway, etc. Awesome place. Make sure you go by and eat at Regina's (pizza) in the North End, not the one next to Fenway. The original location is a special spot. I cant wait until my kids are a few years older and I can take them.

As far as beers I mentioned in my earlier post here is what I consumed the most on my trip.

At Fenway:

At Yankee Stadium:

the Pinstripe wasn't anything special.

Make sure to wear "F Redsox/Yankees" shirt on game days. That'll go over well!

For Yankee stadium, look at where the seats are and what the weather will be that day. Last time I went, it was sunny and 'nice', but ended up gettin sunburn on my legs because we sat like 3 rows in front of the 'shade'. Ended up standing up for 2 innings near an overhang to get out of the sun. We didn't have sunscreen or didn't bring it with us.

Fenway: definitely check the view of seats. I have only been once and it was in a group who bought tickets without looking at things. Ended up sitting near a post on the 1st base side. Ended up watching some of the game from the common areas for better view. Green monster can be a pain, since the seats are small and you need to walk a ways to get to food/drinks.
