I think the likely answer here is that Clase really thought throwing a ball on pitch one in exchange for a few bucks was a nothing burger. He wasn't smart enough to see that it starts here and before long the kind of guys that have your nuts in a vice are going to ask you to blow a save.

My guess is that MLB will end up having to teach most of the Latin players this lesson.
