Have done charters in the BVI 5 times starting in '98 and most recently in '18. Islands did a HARD shut down over Covid and was still recovering from a monster hurricane since. That said I love the BVI, it's a special place and unique in so many ways. Had a trip booked in the Summer of '20 that was cancelled and have not been able to go back. Almost went to the USVI last year instead (no Covid restrictions really) but it didn't work out in the end.
My favorite charter company experience has been with Horizon Yacht Charters. That said the ownership and status of all of them changes. Best deal overall though is to use owner's time. My last trip was booked that way before Covid killed it. Much cheaper and lots of little perks. I used Jenny Goya at
Owners Time Charters.
The BVI has changed a lot over the years and I honestly don't know how it is post Covid. Some of the best kept secrets have gotten out a bit too much last visit but they may have adjusted back. Jost Van Dyke is a fantastic island. Foxys, Ivan's, and the Soggy Dollar Bar are all really special. I loved Foxy's Taboo and Little Harbour better last time though, less crowded. Little Harbour has 2 awesome little lobster restaurants. Anegada has a lot of the feel of what the BVI used to be. Lots of great little spots everywhere though.
USVI is different, lots more people but still really nice. Just depends on what you want.
