How strict are they with guests?

Starting to travel a lot more as a family, wife and 2 kids under 10.

Thinking of upgrading on of my credit cards, that includes United club access.

The policy is 2 guests, no more than one adult and one minor. if I show up with everyone are they actually going to turn away one of my kids?

And yes I've been in the United club, I know it's not amazing.

They will absolutely turn you away if you try to bring anyone extra. They are super strict in my experience.

I know that with the AA cards, it is guests per cardholder. My wife and I can both get people in and just have to show our credit card to them separately.

You'll just have to pay the fee for 1 person

You can bring your wife and both kids under 21. I've had my wife and two boys (16 & 18) with me multiple times.

Here are rules from United club:

United Club members may bring one adult and dependent children under 21, or up to two guests, into any United Club location. Members must accompany their family and guests during their United Club visit. Members are responsible for ensuring guests and family members comply with these Rules.

I have the United club card and I'm always allowed to bring in my whole family (wife and 3 kids - 11,8,8) provided we are booked on the same itinerary. Which obviously we always are.

United Club in Newark is better than the American express centurion lounge at jfk. It all depends where you are

your info is wrong. It's two adults or 1 adult and dependent children under 21.

Just to close this out, this is correct.

I flew this week and asked them at the counter. You can have up to 8 dependent kids, sorry polygamists.

As a club member are you allowed access if you aren't flying United on that particular day? Are you required to show boarding pass as proof for entry?

You can't get past security without a boarding pass for that day.

So to answer question, yes, and it must be united. Used to be you could have any airline ticket.

Wasn't aware that changed. I went in with an American boarding pass but that might have been two years ago at this point. Good to know.

If you are on a Star Alliance partner ticket they will also let you in from my experience.

that policy changed Nov 1 2019.
As stated above, your boarding pass can be for travel on United, Star Alliance or a contracted partner operated flight.

If flying someone else, you could book a fully refundable ticket on United for later that day...just don't forget to cancel!

that's a lot of trouble for a lounge visit. you would have to go all the way thru the process of checking in and getting a boarding pass and then having to cancel........

It was kind of a joke, but would likely work and you wouldn't get caught if you only did it one time. I was suggesting this if he was already on a flight on in the terminal checked in past security.
