I'll be in Budapest for a couple of days in October. What are your recommendations for how to make the most of it - best sites, experiences, meals, etc.?

I visited once before about 15 years ago for a couple of days. I remember seeing some bridges, visiting the parliament building, and walking hilly streets in Buda. I enjoy typical touristy sightseeing, but would prefer some different and unique experiences if possible.

Go hit one of thermal baths. There are two really famous ones, but there are a plenty to choose from. We went to Gellert and had a really good time. You have to rent little shower slippers there, but check your accommodation to see if they have some already there (our air bnb had extras).

I'm in Budapest a few times a year for my current gig.

Foremost, they booted Uber - so download Bolt and get it set up. It works just the same.

Food, I really like Borkonyha and Rosenstein.

I'm always at the Budapest Marriott Hotel. Great location and views across the river of the castle. Breakfast is bonkers awesome. If you're into coffee, Espresso Embassy (https://www.instagram.com/p/Cvu4AvMobmo/) is my daily driver.

Must dos: Castle and hop the ruin pubs. For the ruin pubs, Szimpla Kert is the famous one. Instant-Fogas if you want more party. My favorite is Ptkulcs.

+1 for Gellert
I did a wine tasting at Buda Castle, that was pretty cool.

We were referred to this restaurant by a waitress at the cocktail bar we were at and were lucky enough to get a table.

We stayed for 9 nights when we went. We went to this restaurant at least 3 times. Good food and drinks.

Bors Gastrobar was actually recommended on here and if you like a delicious sandwich or soup on the go, def give it a try. Ate here at least twice.

If you enjoy night life, you have to go to a Ruin Pub. Just a really cool setting. We went to Szimpla Kert.

We also went to the Opera one night in the State Opera house. That was a fun memory.

We had a great time in 2016. It was beautiful city. Hoping Hungary doesn't continuing sliding farther into authoritarianism.

Thanks for the good suggestions so far.

Anyone been in the caves under Buda? Not really looking to do adventure caving, but a cave walk seems kind of fun and unique. Thoughts?

Also, any experience with a local bike tour company? I've done bike tours (typically 2-4 hours) in multiple cities I've visited and always enjoyed them. Yellow Zebra Budapest seems to be a popular one.

So I'm in Budapest. Any other ideas to share? Looks like rain most of the rest of Saturday, but Sunday looks to be a 20% or lower chance of rain and high of 65F, so should be a nice day to go out and about.
