My kids are on the cusp of being out of booster seat range. That said, we're going to be traveling in a situation where proper public transportation like a subway is scarce and doesn't really go anywhere and a rental car wouldn't really be practical. Will Uber drivers care? Do I need to see about finding some compact/easy to carry boosters?
We did get refused one time. In Asheville, NC. I couldn't believe it. We spent the the entire day meandering about town and purposefully ended the day at a Trader Joe's with the intention to buy a few days worth of groceries for our AirBnB. Did our shopping, got an Uber, he came and said "Nope, company policy. I could lose my Uber license and if I see you request another I will report you." So we had to walk 2 miles over a hill loaded up with enough food for a family of five plus 7-8 bottles of wine and at least one six pack of beer. Good thing our kids are decent hikers, lol.
Our daughter was 6 at the time and would normally ride in a booster at home but we'd never had a problem in any of our other travels, both before and after that incident. It's just one of those funny travel memories now but I remember really slamming those beers when we got back to our rental.
