Taking the family to France in June. Staying in Paris for a week then going to Commes for 3 days to do Normandy stuff. Was planning to take the train to Caen and then renting a car but we are traveling on a Sunday and Caen car rental agencies are closed on Sunday. Is my only real option to just rent in Paris? Going to need a car in Commes. At least I assume we will.

While I'm at it, looking for a hotel for family of 5 for one night at the end of our trip back in Paris before we fly home. Any suggestions?

The drive from Paris to Caen isn't bad at all.

Rent a car and stop in Rouen on the way.

It's going to be nuts over there with the Olympics going on.

Driving from Paris to Normandy is fairly straightforward, we did it on our last trip. There are several tolls on the way - I think it was probably 10-12 Euro back then.

Don't speed. I didn't even see the camera, but they sent me a ticket in the mail. Think I was like 3km over which is ridiculous. I didn't pay it of course

Olympics is later in the summer so hoping it won't impact us.

Is there a linked toll tag or something or do you have to stop and pay?

There were toll plazas, at least in 2012. Make sure you have euro coins and cash, not all are manned and some you can just drop change and go.

I'll echo the speeding comment above - they heavily monitor the roads via radar.
