I'm headed to Amsterdam this afternoon and will get in a little earlier than expected thanks to some meetings finishing up early. Open to anything, preferably under $50 not including alcohol.

In the future if anyone needs a dinner rec for a layover in Amsterdam, I went to Trattoria That's Amore and it was very good food. Had a Carbonara Spaghetti and then had some tiramisu for dessert.

For a really cool experience, I recommend Pasta E Basta (Italian). The servers are mostly professional opera singers, and the food is reasonably priced and hearty.

Highly suggest a restaurant serving up a rijstaffel. That would be something somewhat unique to Amsterdam though it has Indonesian roots. I haven't been to the city in a few years, but Restaurant Blauw appears to have good reviews. Search up rijstaffel and see what you can find.

I could not agree more. Amsterdam is worth the trip just for the Indonesian food.

There are a lot of options, but if you enjoy a rice table or rijstaffel, you might consider Tempo Doeloe, +31.20.625.67.18

And, I just realized OP was almost a month ago looking for same day advice. Oh well.
