I will be traveling to SD in early January for a lacrosse tournament with my son. We will have some time to run around and do somethings beyond lacrosse. Going to head to the zoo one day.

What else is a good thing to do/see while there? Thanks!

Just got back from there. Didn't do a ton of touristy things - but there's also Sea World.

Our highlights were walking down the seawall from the USS midway to the Seaport Village and grabbing breakfast and coffee there. Had lunch down there at Roy's one day as well.

We checked out Coronado and had dinner at Garage Buona Forchetta which was amazing. Walked to Hotel Del which had a bunch of Xmas lights and deco's up.

Coronado beach worth checking out and Point Loma stuff like sunset cliffs natural park, etc.

Man, we really need a San Diego and Cabo sticky thread at the top of this page.

Zoo, Balboa Park, La Jolla, Coronado Island and the Hotel Del, USS Midway and the whole Seaport Village area for walking and casual lunch, Old Town for great Mexican food and souvenirs, Ocean Beach for cool scene and good grub, tons of great breweries, tacos and carne asada burritos anywhere you can find them.

San Diego is a gem and has so many great areas to visit. Traffic is way better than Los Angeles, but can still be tricky at times. Have fun!

Go to Cabrillo National Monument for a spectacular view and on the way back stop at Sunset Cliffs.

Definitely Sunset Cliffs and also do some hiking in Torrey Pines.
