Looking to take our first trip to HI next summer. I'm guessing we will want to see Pearl Harbor and then go to Kona. I'm probably doing SWA. Does it make the most sense just to book a flight on swa from one island to the other? Is that what most people do? Or are there are local carriers that make more sense?

You can do either. I've only ever done local carriers but SW seems to be very reasonable in price.

We've done both SWA and HA between islands. Just used whichever carrier had good times and prices.

That Kona airport is one of my favorites; mostly open air!

If flying on other carriers from island to island just be mindful of different carriers rules on # of checked bags and weights as might be different thereby possibly costing a few more dollars. But since you are going to HI - bring a few more checks in your checkbook - costs for food or souvenirs are pricier than mainland prices!

Most of my clients I book Hawaiian Air between islands. Cheap and easy.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.
